Italian mainstay Davide Squillace makes his debut on Rebellion this September with Drive Good. Teaming up with UK regular Nolan, the single features French talent Jaw on vocals and US stalwart @rick-wade as remixer.

Nolan spoke about how the release came together, describing how: “Davide and I haven’t actually met in person, but we’ve created a few monster tracks together. He sent a few projects to me when I was in Brighton and I ripped out the rawest sounds to start turning them into tracks. We decided Drive Good was ready for some top line vocals from Jaw, who took the track to a whole other level.”
The seven-minute cut gets underway swiftly, with hard-edged kick-hat pairings cosying up next to warming chord tones to start. Bleep-like synths soon open into Jaw’s enchanting vocal offerings before Rick Wade’s remix takes on a softer edge, manifesting as a soothing dance cut with clear Detroit influences.

DJ and producer Davide Squillace has achieved a lot in his career as resident of the famed Circoloco and part of the supergroup Better Lost Than Stupid with Matthias Tanzmann and Martin Buttrich. He is also expanding on his production repertoire with releases on the likes of Cadenza, Kaoz Theory, No19, Moon Harbour and Hot Creations. Straddling house, disco, breaks and prog with a unique twist and an eye for the underground, Nolan is making serious waves with key releases on Mobilee, LNOE, Bedrock, Circus, Kittball, MadTech, Crew Love, Get Physical, OFF, Gruuv & Connaisseur Recordings.

French singer-songwriter Jaw is a prolific vocalist in electronic music, making regular appearances on Set About, BluFin and many more besides. Michigan-favourite Rick Wade has been a leading figure in Detroit house for decades, having been active as a producer since 1994. His music has found a welcome home on Shall Not Fade and Open Sound in recent times, a testament to his keen-ear for production.

New on Sublease Music is a special collaboration from Anderson M and Lucid Distraction. Both having car- ved out specific niches in their own careers, this collab brings together the best of both their outputs for a cut that will bring a lot of joy over the next weeks and months. 

The collaboration came about after the two had been talking online, and started to share files. Anderson explains “Our styles are very different but they complement each other well. Scott initially started the idea with some loops he sent over for me to work on. As soon as I heard the deep house elements, I had an idea of which direction I wanted to take this project and I'm very satisfied with the end result.” 

Scott from Lucid Distraction expands: "I came up with a couple of basslines and had been very inspired by fellow Aussies Mallgrab and DJ Boring. I started more minimal and infused elements of lo-fi and deep house as the tune developed”. It’s a winning combination for sure, and hopefully the start of the further melding of two highly creative minds. 

The result is indeed hugely satisfying - a slick, sexy groover that digs deeper and deeper on each repeated listening. 

Next up is Love Language, a solo track by Anderson M. which hints at a little 2-step infusion into the deep house sounds. "This track was a very different animal. I actually started this project while I was vacationing in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico earlier this year. The basic ideas were laid out there but I finished it once I arrived back home the following week. It's a minimal tune sprinkled with deep house elements to create a warm, loving ambiance. You can thank the original synth patterns for that, courtesy of my microKORG and all of its wonderfulness." stated Anderson M.

Following his beautiful ‘Detroit Sunrise’ EP on the label last year, the inimitable Sascha Dive returns to Bondage Music once again for another deep frequency encounter.

The safe word is bass as Sascha picks up where he left us with two ‘Dub Chronicles’ tracks on the previous release. Now comes the third; a lavish, unhurried exploration ‘Dub Chronicles 3’ lights the fire with hazy, hypnotic charm and a spoken word well known to those familiar with the foundations.

What follows is a trip that grows in intensity and emotions. ‘Cornerstone’ is a beautiful 11pm track; fleet of foot in the kick department and arms aloft in the vibe department. Total elevation. ‘Ancient Tribal Drums’, meanwhile, takes us much deeper into the night. That rolling conga line will tie you up just the way Bondage likes it while the dubby echoes provide sense-tingling relief… Before the finale takes us to even dreamier heights. Living up to its name, ‘It’s A Groove’ brings the elements of the whole EP together; the dubby hypnosis, the warm, driving beats and that unique sense that you’re not quite tied into any reality while Sascha plays.
