Originally Davis indebted to the sound of grunge and punk, the typically rebellious aesthetic of a young life lived on a somewhat isolated island, Davis’ taste headed in a typically more electronic direction over the years, from hard house to experimental and ambient music. Whether grafting away optimistic years in bands or taking hard-earned moments away from shift work, dedicating late nights and early mornings to his home studio, Davis’ sound has always persevered with a raw, emotional quality.

The past few years have seen Davis find deserved acclaim for a string of production and remixes that put those delicate songwriting and production skills centre stage, not only combining a timeless analog touch with a keen ear for the limitless possibilities of modern production, but a powerful sense of rhythm that will both define and transcend a contemporary dancefloor.

I think it's important to make the most of every situation. Last weekend I played a 5 hour set at Village Underground, something that I have been dreaming about for a long time. 

Unfortunately, it happened to be a socially distanced, sitting event, which turned out to be a little awkward to be honest, as I found it a bit hard to connect with people not being able to dance. 

However, I gave it my best and played a bit over 3 hours of my favorite house, classic disco and indie dance music ranging from the 80s to today (followed by a couple of hours of more clubby music, which I didn't include in this file). 

I hope you enjoy and hopefully there will be more chances to play a sweaty set at VU <3

Hotly tipped newcomer Yulia Niko joins the Watergate collective, delivering an exciting label debut to mark the occasion.

The Russian-born, Berlin-based artist has piqued the ears of heads with quality releases on Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical and her own TochnoTechno imprint. She steps up for Watergate Records with an inspiring maiden EP, augmented by remixes from YokoO and Francesco Mami.

‘Manifesto’ is the intriguing opener, as intergalactic synths rub shoulders with a chugging groove for an ultra-cool finish. ‘Passion’ is heavy on vibes, pairing an enchanting vocal with a colourful bed of percussion. YokoO contributes a subterranean ‘Defragmentation’ remix of ‘Manifesto’ on the minimal tip, before adding some warmth to the palette teaming up with Francesco Mami for a ‘Vegas Mix’ primed for the afterhours with its deep grooves and shuffling beats. ‘Hurts So Slow’ reinforces Niko’s versatility, imbuing a dusty house vibe primed for late night sessions.

With over a decade of producing left-field dance music regularly rinsed by underground pockets worldwide, Clarian is developing a hush devoted following of the more eccentric variety and unconventional music appreciators.
Cited as a producer’s producer, Clarian has contributed on wide reaching platforms in communities globally. From the volcanic emergence of Detroit’s Visionquest, to the surgical and darker spectrums of Life and Death. Clarian’s distinctive influence shines through with versatility both as a musician and songwriter without being pigeonholed.A lifelong fan of author’s such as John Brunner and Phillp K Dick, Clarian’s fascination with Science Fiction and its relationship to electronic music has partially inspired his pursuit into sound production. Introduced to rave electro culture in the late 90s of Montreal by a weirdo crew of degenerate savants, Clarian quickly found himself immersed and compelled with such music pioneers as Kraftwerk and the outlasting legacy of such labels as Daniel Miller’s Mute Record.

Italian-mainstay @francesca-lombardo welcomes in Echoe’s twentieth release this December with the three-track Horizone. Out in December, the EP paves the way for Francesca’s soon-to-be-released compilation album that takes a retrospective look at Echoe / Echolette, from label beginnings to the present day. Speaking on the inspiration behind the release, Francesca described how: “The tracks remind me of good moments. I wanted to call the EP ‘Horizone’ as a wish for a brighter future in our industry!" (...) "Darnley" takes the helm, appearing as a gritty late-night cut with hard-edged drum patterns and eerie piano rolls.
