Following the widely celebrated release of Mermaids back in May, experimental Danish electronic pop trio WhoMadeWho now looks to expand on the success of the first single from their forthcoming 2022 long player, as they enlist Italian DJ, producer and Life and Death label boss DJ Tennis to provide his unique interpretation of the mesmerising original record.

Due for worldwide release on Friday, July 2 via long-standing German imprint Embassy One, DJ Tennis’s remix sees Manfredi Romano breathe fresh life into the already spellbinding cut, as he imparts a rich tapestry of glitchy, analog instrumentation and dynamic production techniques to Tomas Høffding’s dreamy vocals, to create an intelligent, playful and trippy rendition of the Danish collective’s latest single.

Founder and A&R of Life and Death, Manfredi Romano grew up tour-managing punk bands and organising left-field music events in Italy around the turn of the Millennium. Having completed his studies in computer science at the University of Pisa, Manfredi went on to form DAZE, Italy’s first booking agency solely devoted to electronic music. Drawing on two decades of experience behind the scenes, Romano shifted focus in 2010, establishing himself as a DJ in his own right. 

As a performer, Tennis valiantly showcases an astute ability to create intimacy in even the vastest of gatherings. As a respected producer, Romano consistently channels his past relationships with post-rock luminaries such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Tortoise and Fugazi into intricately synthesized electronic constellations. Fine chef and restaurant owner, Tennis splits his time between Miami and Amsterdam, where he enjoys riding motorbikes, collecting vintage action- figures and building upon his vinyl record collection, which now numbers over eleven thousand strong.

Italian DJ-producer and Australia-based Leo Guardo team up with Toshi, A rising star singer from South African who released in labels such as Madoras, Wired, or MoBlack, to name but a few. Their debut on Redolent Music is titled' Sikhanyisele,' A beautifully crafted and meaningful Afro House song.
'Sikhanyisele,' which means 'shine your light on us,' represents our spiritual needs to connect with the creator through driving synths. These melodic waves navigate us into a captivating voice that requests us to enlighten our consciousness and guide us through our material existence.
'Sikhanyisele' is a profound masterpiece, with resounding piano chords, a leading bass-line connecting instantly with the deep touchy voice. Toshi creates a mystic environment along the way, delivering her message in the most delicate possible way. 'In everything that we are passing through, we are nomads, we have nothing, but that's ok, we can handle that, but what we can't handle is you hiding your light from us.'
Sparrow & Barbossa return with a double remix work -main and score- demonstrating their versatility moving through the different spectrums of electronica. The duo emphasises the production with a massive dose of happiness, creating a musical ode. Sustaining Toshi's vocals afloat with robust rhythms and tribal alchemy, this finale treads on an elevated incline into an elaborate expansion of lush sounds. A true beauty to hear, see and feel unravel.
