Sounds of Khemit's latest various artists EP features three superb new takes that take inspiration from Amun, a primordial supreme Master in ancient Khemit. The release also co-incides with the label’s showcase event at this year’s ADE in Amsterdam.

Amun rose to prominence during the New Kingdom when his name was associated with Ra the light. As Amun-Ra he reigned for years and brought illumination, abundance and order to the land of Khemit. His name Amoon, as the hieroglyphs depict, means the exalted one, the one that is placed at a high or powerful level.

Says the label, "In Sounds of Khemit we learn from Amun as a strong example as a just king. He brought order to the land, he was a fair judge, a powerful visionary ruler, a man that fights for the poor and weak. We are inspired by his visionary rule which gives us the strength to move forward in our fight, our mission to bring light from darkness."

Tanit's 'Alwayb' opens up and immediately brings that sense of ancient mysticism that defines this label. The synths are intoxicating, the grooves detailed with plenty of percussion and the rolling bassline is sure to draw in the dance floor. Sydka's sublime 'Control' is a heavier house rhythm with big kick drums and oversized bass making for a loose-limbed affair. Deft synth sequences rise up and down the sale to make for a most atmospheric mood. Last of all, Nhii & Zababa combine to great effect on 'Etoile Filante' which is a spiritual deep house call to action. Once the groove is established with tumbling synths and drums, spine-tingling vocals hang in the air during an enchanting breakdown. When the drums arrive again a spell will be cast on all who hear it.

Before the full EP arrives, the single tracks will be released on streaming platforms - Tanit's 'Alwayb' on 7th October, Sydka's 'Control' on 14th October and Nhii & Zababa's 'Etoile Filante' on 21st October.

After Dandara and Reza digitally met, they both saw the potential in creating music together. The idea for this EP came from Reza's recent acoustic album "Yin" from which they took different ideas and sounds to create a new story, a shadow to the original narrative.

Shadow of Contemplation reworks the piano in Reza's original "Dhyana", a Sanskrit word meaning Contemplation, this track keeps the meditative nature of the original and takes it on an inward journey of the mind, body and soul.

Shadow of Creation uses a sample from the original, "Shakti", Sanskrit for primordial cosmic energy. This track means to express how the creative source of energy can infinitely transmute.

Shadow of Continuum, is an expansion from a small section of the original "Shiva", a Hindu God who destroys to create, this is the closing thought of the EP, to show how the end of one cycle can be the beginning of another, resulting in a continuum, even if we look for endings and beginnings.

And, as if to prove us right, New York-based producer Nhii is starting it off with a bang. ‚Kykeon of Cobble Hill‘, his new three-track EP, is electric, trippy and mysterious. The title track, as well as the B-side ‚Branches of the same Tree‘ don’t skimp on eclectic charm while still fulfilling their prime objective: these are grooves made for the dance floor, deep-yet-bouncy and so, so wonderfully made.

There's an eclectic range of tempos and romp factor here; this compilation being as much about dancing under trees as lying in a fireside cuddle puddle while someone plays amateur astronomer. 

The compilation's midpoint is an undeniable stomper combining everything you could want from a Uone and Out of Sorts collab: shakers pulling you straight onto the dancefloor, tryptamine vocal processing, and an edgy spoken word snippet courtesy of the late Reverend Jim Jones. 'Ba Ba Ooh' plays to its collaborators' strengths, uniting Out of Sorts' grinding Teutonic production with Uone's jester mentality. The result is something that'll be damn-near irresistible at one in the morning.

1) What is your favorite book to read?

That's not an easy question because I definitely don't read enough. but
at the moment I'm reading the book: "Paris - ein Fest fürs Leben" by
Ernest Hemingway and I love the way Hemingway calmly talks about his
time and describes life as an artist in Paris.

2) If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have?

There are a lot of good answers for the second question. I think
speaking for humanity, my superpower would be to end wars and hunger,
for me personally the greatest superpower would be to be infinitely free
from all constraints and conventions.

3) What's the longest you've gone without sleep (and why)?

the longest i was up was like 40
hours when we organized our own open air and were busy throughout the
night. Otherwise, sleep is very important to me and you will rarely find
me at extended after-hour sessions
