Isn’t it a wonder, watching an Outcome unravel in backward motion. The ingenious Croatian duo is back on MoBlack Records, this time, teaming up with Austrian underground renegade, Philipp Straub and two of our favorite talents on remix duties. Retrograde orbits against the grain, in resistance to forward currents, forming kinetic interactions that translate into vigorous sound. From where we’re at, the view is majestic. Outcome and Philipp Straub’s work of art starts off with a moody Original Mix, rife with sublime harmonies. Atop gracious drumming, celestial strings and crunchy synth riffs suture eloquent melodies on fetching basslines that linger. Alex Medina begets the funky middle child of the pack. Sporting a retro groove with a bit of 16-bit breakbeat  playfulness, this defiant remix arouses. And contrary to winding down near the end, it retrogrades, spooling moist synth undulations that will surely set dancefloors afrenzy. Auggie wraps up the three-tracker with his penetrating rendition. Juxtaposing industrial grit to ethereal resonance and riveting drums, the Milan-based DJ/Producer executes bright strings on a simple, earthy delight of a groove to piece it all together, with poise.  This one is raw, metallic and luscious.

Coming in 4 volumes, the compilations showcase the best of the label from the last decade selected by the label boss Henry Saiz featuring tracks and remixes by label artists and collaborators like Marc Marzenit, Pional, Damabiah, Cora Novoa, Guy J, Third Son, Tuff City Kids and many more other friends we´ve released throughout these years. Carefully selected packages of old and new stuff - these are the tracks that helped to forge the unique sonic path Natura Sonoris is known and loved for.

Monkey Safari - Ctrl X (Hannes Bieger Remix)

What makes everybody's darling duo Monkey Safari so special is surely their authenticity; with their striking debut album ‘Odyssey’, this meant producing the same kind of tracks they were playing as they toured nightclubs and festivals around the world, rather than simply a listening album. The result was a dance floor artwork. And while they may be perfectionists, they’re certainly no purists, carefully handpicking remixers they see as most capable of continuing their vision for the album.

Split in 3 separate EPs, ‘Odyssey Remixes – One’, ‘Two’, and ‘Three’ will be released in May, June, and July 2018, featuring reworks of the original album tracks by the master himself, Carl Cox, international stars Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Tensnake and Reboot, studio geniuses Dubspeeka, Hannes Bieger, ROD, and Phil Moffa, as well as up-and-coming talent Avidus, Trivmph, and Hommage label co-chief Karl Friedrich.

Carl Cox: “Being a fan of Monkey Safari, it was a pleasure to do this mix for them, this track was the one that got me, the moodyness, power and the layers of sound, is musical art to me. I just wanted to compliment what they have always done and make a Coxy version, by reversing the bassline and slamming the drums. I am so happy that you guys like it. I am playing it out and it’s moving the floor.”

Reboot: “Being asked to lay hands on one track of the last Monkey Safari album was a big pleasure for me, as I have been a fan of their work for a while. Even though it was rather challenging, as the original is a perfectly produced floorkiller. So I tried to bring the track into a more dirty direction with a long breakdown, but without leaving the original`s idea too much. I hope people enjoy the results.”

ROD: “Thanks to the great original parts, both my remixes flowed out of my system quite naturally. I was happy to do two complete different remixes. Where ‘Prologue' is more about peak-time techno-energy, with 'Sign' I tried to create a much more psychedelic underwater-ish vibe which I think worked out quite well with that soothing vocal."

Avidus: “For our remix of ‘Sign’ we took a very minimalistic approach. The vocal speaks for itself and in contrast to the original, we we were aiming for a less rave oriented version, for special moments at open airs...“

Hannes Bieger: “The studio work connected me with Monkey Safari now for quite a long time, as I have also mixed the Odyssey Album with the original tracks. I generally like their music a lot, as many of them are musically on my wavelength. During the mixing session for Ctrl X I used my Moog Modular just for fun and jammed something into the almost finished track which the boys apparently liked a lot. I rarely do that in the studio that I kind of cross a line and start to play to a client's project. I respect original projects a lot and usually don’t want to impose myself on anyone. But in this case, I just got so inspired - and the boys too.”

Last March we’ve been lucky to have him featured on Lost Tapes Vol. 3 (Pt. I) with his ‘Computer Controlled Drum Rhythm’. Now Jepe will finally release his first solo EP on AEON. 
The Berlin-based Portuguese producer and DJ has created an uplifting yet nostalgic EP including three originals and a remix by Johannes Albert. The Restless Soul EP began to shape during last spring, as Jepe was roaming between enjoying sunsets on Kreuzberg’s Admiralbrücke and the white sandy beach of his hometown, Aveiro.  
The first track ‘Congo Bongo Acid’ is an, at times, trippy combination of 80s inspired synths and an electro drumatronic Congo pattern. Following the opening track, ‘Reasonable Doubts’ feels a bit more sunny thanks to a combination of luminous synth arrangements. However, some parts of the song make you reasonably doubt the truthfulness of the ecstatic melodies. Lastly, ‘Restless Soul’ reflects just that with its urgent bassline that leaves hardly any time to breathe. With some delirious keys embracing you, you find yourself listening to disco disguised as house, driving your convertible on a Los Angeles Highway.
To complete The Restless Soul EP, AEON invited Johannes Albert to remix the record’s title track. The Berlin-based honcho of Frank Music is never shy to add a soothing melodic touch to the mix, taking ‘Restless Soul’ on an acid- driven tour to the dancefloor.
Altogether, a versatile set of tracks delivered by the forward-thinking German label.
