After Dandara and Reza digitally met, they both saw the potential in creating music together. The idea for this EP came from Reza's recent acoustic album "Yin" from which they took different ideas and sounds to create a new story, a shadow to the original narrative.

Shadow of Contemplation reworks the piano in Reza's original "Dhyana", a Sanskrit word meaning Contemplation, this track keeps the meditative nature of the original and takes it on an inward journey of the mind, body and soul.

Shadow of Creation uses a sample from the original, "Shakti", Sanskrit for primordial cosmic energy. This track means to express how the creative source of energy can infinitely transmute.

Shadow of Continuum, is an expansion from a small section of the original "Shiva", a Hindu God who destroys to create, this is the closing thought of the EP, to show how the end of one cycle can be the beginning of another, resulting in a continuum, even if we look for endings and beginnings.

The magic machines of the hour are called 303 and 909. A bass sequencer and a drum machine are putting the dancefloors of the planet into ecstasy. Acid, Baby! Wolfgang Voigt’s best mate is the sampler. The omnivorous sound-transmitter is made for the artists genre-transgressing quotation-pop-art-expressionism. Under a countless number of aliases and projects, Wolfgang Voigt connects old with new artistic visions, he is creating hybrid experiments and concepts on the way to musical new ground. Everything is possible. And everything is techno, as long as there’s a four-to-the-floor bass drum. From Schlager to Polka to Classical music. From Jazz to Pop to Ambient. Via sampling, everything loses its meaning and is reincarnated to a new digital life. From early hardcore-acid and Gabber-projects like Mike Ink, Love Inc. & Co, crossing abstract-dadaistic Profan drafts like M:I:5 or Wassermann, to the form-restricted minimalistic discourse techno-classics Studio 1 and Freiland – Voigt celebrates the freedom of art and his very own Loveparade.

For the very first time, EARQUAKE! summarises in chronological order almost all of Wolfgang Voigts musical work of the 1990s. A surreal voyage through ten years of ravenous, multi-layered creativity, that, considering it from the present’s bird’s-eye perspective, offers the view on a fascinating entirety.

It contains every single solo-project, the most important compilation-pieces as well as unreleased material. It is not containing explicitly: GAS, artistic collaborations, releases with external copyrights.

EARQUAKE comprises 303 single pieces, 75 are previously unreleased. Additionally it contains the unreleased album "Wolfgang Voigt - Mit Maschinen Sprechen" from 1995. 33 abstract electronic arpeggiator sound frescos.

EARQUAKE is being released in two different versions, available exclusively on KOMPAKT.FM:

1. A USB 3 stick in noble casket plus booklet. 303 pieces (plus 33 bonus tracks) (as AIFF) for 303.- Euro.

2. Single download (as 320mp3s) via the Kompakt website, 1.- Euro each track.

Additionally, EARQUAKE is going to be supplemented by reissues and new pressings of selected limited vinyl-releases.

Fresh out of the camper is Joep Mencke’s Mataka Ep. After the success with his debut Asiri last year, we have been hooked on Mencke’s sound. With two solid originals and an adventure of a remix by the label bosses unders & Noraj Cue, Mataka delivers.


Tum sounds like you’re on a boat on tranquil water floating into a mysterious world full of wonders. Its dark, yet light. The mist makes you want to doze off but the claps, conga’s and busty breakbeats keep you awake. The horizon is hazy, yet the subtle swing is so clear. A whole new world lies yonder, come out and play, says Tum. More is coming, says Mr. Mencke, just wait for it.


The second production and the EP’s name carrier does not take any shortcuts. Mataka’s groove kicks in straight away. Little joyful bells enlighten the darkness. The moment you think Mataka can’t take you any deeper, Mataka erupts. Heroically it lets you know the battle is won,  Mataka made its mark, it's invincible. The shout of the Maori warrior after victory: Mataka!


In Mataka's remix, the atmospheric pad lets you float through the sky. Dreamy tickling bells are covered by a broad, open, wide sound. It triggers, lifts, it excites. Alice in Wonderland’s clock guides, the inception like dark is put against an angel’s voice kicking in. The voice is like a flower sprouting in spring after a long dark winter. Mataka’s interpretation by label honcho’s unders & Noraj Cue brings depth, it inspires and adds adventure.
