Berlin's Powel has been a longtime friend of Do Not Sit, releasing his first EP on the label back in 2018 and most recently remixing George X's 'Slice of Life', and performing numerous times at our club home in Miami. We welcome his return with the new four track EP, 'Back To The Beginnings'.

Created with his signature touch of elegance and rhythm, the works straddle between the deep and organic. Leading with the harmonious nuances of 'Iche Warte.' into the title track's atmospheric pulses, and followed by the vitality of 'Samba Par Ty', and rounding out with the beautiful vocal spirits of 'Whatever'.

Nature Rec opens the spring season by welcoming Ismaehl back to the label for a new single. The Mexican artist has made impressive strides since first emerging in 2020. Whether working in solo capacity or alongside frequent studio partner Replicanth, Ismaehl has taken his organic sound to Akbal Music, Clubsonica, Univack and more, while earning the praise of Hernan Cattaneo and Sebastien Leger. Having made two previous appearances on Nature Rec across 2021 and 2022, Ismaehl now makes a welcome return with a solo single entitled ‘Ojos Turquesa’.

Beloved for his exotic groove-centric sounds, Ismaehl continues to explore that narrative on ‘Ojos Turquesa’. Wrapped within a percussive rhythmic shell are punchy beats, pulsating basslines and a myriad of tantalizing effects. The Mexican artist’s storyboarding takes hold as fragmented vocals and cross-cultural instrumentation build an elusive narrative, one where prophetic sensibilities meet reflective emotions and captivate leading into the primary break. Bringing an even greater worldly presence across the interlude, Ismaehl reveals a strong lead theme which breaks pre-conception’s and made up minds for the ultimate finale that is sure to light up a broad range of dance floors. We are both very happy to welcome back Marino Canal on Siamese. Everyone remembers his first record for us well, a timeless yet forward thinking and fresh release that's tough to beat. Marino made it possible though, his upcoming `Provenance` EP is a clear evolution of his style, mature, intelligent and ready for 2020.

'Curious Eyes' is the track we received first. We’re playing it since quite a while and it easily stood the test of time. Marino’s gift of creating energetic and powerful yet lush tracks is very unique and this song surely tells a story. Truly a great piece of modern dance music. 

Next is ‚Provenance‘, the title track of the EP. Similar to 'Curious Eyes‘ it starts gentle while giving the selector some time and space for mixing
and creating something artful while playing this out. As the deep and mellow chords soak you into the track the remaining layers are steering towards the climax where ‚Provenance' reveals its full potential. And before its even finished you want to hear it all over again.

'Dreamt of Tomorrow‘, the final cut of the release makes it even harder to pick a favorite and we're considering if we should have kept at least one track for the next
EP. Kidding aside, there’s nothing stopping Marino’s ever evolving expertise and this track resembles how a dream of tomorrow could feel like. Beauty, hope and kindness on one hand, madness, destruction and anger on the other. A perfect way to close a great record and there could be no better entry into 2020 for Siamese.

Tim Engelhardt's 2020 album 'Idiosynkrasia' felt cinematic in form and orchestral in structure, catalysing deep breaths, reflection and a different way of thinking by way of its genre-bending narrative. Now, some of the long-players most precious and tender moments get reinterpreted by a stellar cast of artists, no doubt with the intimate physicality of dancing bodies in mind. The result is a killer package of three versatile cuts that, while each setting a contrast to their source material, amplify different sides of a feeling Tim's work naturally encapsulated – the flow-state. 

Melodic luminary Rodriguez Jr. reimagines the album's introspective opener 'Attached' as a progressive masterclass of deeply engulfing bass, gently cascading synths and hopeful piano variations, showcasing his one-of-a-kind grasp of subtle euphoria. In andhim's hands, the title-track 'Idiosynkrasia' then gets the b-boy treatment as the duo beef-up the original's breakbeat-driven lowend and flip Tim's idiosyncratic melodies on their head by adding a healthy dose of funk. Last but not least, Sam Shure strips 'Touch the Sky' of its organic feel, expertly rethreading Hannah Noelle's stunning vocals into a pressure-cooker of a club track.
