Duro is honored to present the birth of the “Baba” brotherhood. During the last pandemic year, Rina traveled from Tel Aviv to Portugal, where he met Switchdance. After some trips around the beautiful city of Lisbon, plates and plates of hummus and samosa, a visit to pick up raspberries at a field that used to be a medicinal cannabis farm and lots of hours in Switchdance's studio, 'Baba Music Vol. 1' was alive.

The journey initiates with the Portuguese version of "Give Way", a cut that narrates the moment when you are in a high state of mind and try to describe the process to get back to reality. For this version the duo worked with vocalist Abrão, where a deep and resonant bass, a synthesized voice, electric and acid melodies, and distant pads run through the space. It’s followed by the Hebrew version of "Give Away" where Rina takes control of the vocals. 

"Reak" means "empty" in Hebrew, the cut refers to a state of consciousness where there is nothing in the brain. Playful percussion, acid basslines mixed with digitally distorted synthesizers create the sensation of breaking out reality, an experience blended with algorithms, binary codes and atomized sounds where it is hard to distinguish the realness. A roar to all the Babas around the world to gather on the dance floor. 

To consummate the brotherhood with an embellishment, master Jonathan Kusama came up with two versions of "Give Way". The first one is a futuristic and dystopian dub masterpiece, with distorted bass lines, shady vocals and liquid percussion. For the second version Kusama brings up the energy and keeps the bass flickering and harsh, mixed with mind-bending and unhinged synthesizers.

For Pudel Produkte’s next outing Rotte’s previously released track Butterbrot und Peitsche gets Thee Church Ov Acid House treatment and satisfies listeners as well as viewers at the same time with a colossal make-over of the original track and video. Butterbrot und Peitsche in Thee Church Ov Acid House Version is, like the artist name suggests, partly musically home in the duo’s nominally including sub-genre Acid House. Partly because the track is a little more built upon a hollow almost techno-esque seeming bass line, which includes partial sizzling bleeps and is musically garnished with Christian Rottler’s, Rotte’s real name, spoken vocals. The combination of this raw back to the roots or basic approach and the thereby emerging dark twist in the version makes Thee Church Ov Acid House Version a classy in fact timeless piece of music that has this simply charming note only one can produce, when having been in this scene for almost as long as it exists. Chapeau!

In anticipation of the release of Jascha Hagen’s excellent new LP ‘Songs for A Future Generation’, Oath are proud to present the first single ‘QQQ’, the opening song from the record which will certainly wet appetites and set expectations very high indeed.

‘QQQ’ is a quintessential example of Hagen’s work, but with a twist which sets itself out beautifully as the album opener. A deeply intricate groove is interlaced with delicate melodic lines, the lead of which is deeply hypnotic and harp like in its tone. Everything feels driven and forward thinking, moving through the grooves with an ease that unravels expertly as time passes by. The gradual increase in textural intensity leads to a climax towards the mid way mark that gets the pulses going and only serves to showcase Hagen’s deft hand at handling compositions and leading proceedings from A to B. Expectations are defied as everything slows to a fazed out meatless section which slowly burns things out to a cinder, and we are all for it.

Combining 808 drums, acid growls, and beatboxing from ROMO is a tasty but tricky treat recommended by cyborgs and humans alike. It is best digested with high volumes, serious speakers, or epic space battles.

After a long but short break a bunch of unexpected interpretations of Without Letters “Unfollow EP” finally got it’s shape. The remixes were made by Lithuanian artists, who are shattered all over the Europe. Straight from London comes an expected ZZ Popcorn „Heritage“ remix, which acoustically can be mistaken as an interpretation of Eurhythmics unknown song. The second interpretation of “Heritage” is made by Shkema, who is constantly involved in sound design projects for the Lithuanian National Drama Theater. The “Sight Lines” remix comes from Denmark. Konsistent, who was one of the initiators of “Untitled Tricks” illegal raves in Copenhagen, took a slow, almost balearic approach. The “Malaria” interpretation was made by the fresh the Berlin resident - Vaiper, who is basically a flag carrier of the Lithuanian trap scene and is a frontman of locally well known Despotin Fam Band. Versatile and quality staff for global ears over here.

Beyond The Struttosphere is a new collaboration between Leo Strutt (Strutt Bros DJs) and Ben Chetwood (Flying Mojito Bros, Damian Lazarus’s Ancient Moons) aimed at channelling their considerable musical production experience and boundless love of cosmic dark disco. Their first track, New Frontier (Directors Cut), was self-released late in 2019 and is a slow-burning chug through the cosmos, littered with spacey vintage synth motifs and crunchy power chords. It found much acclaim among Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnson’s A Love From Outer Space online fraternity, and was featured in The Juan Mclean’s (DFA Records) recent contribution to Tim Sweeney’s Beats In Space mix series. The original is given a makeover by K-Effect, a stalwart of the dark disco scene. His take meanders down a progressive cosmic wormhole with driving basslines and trippy synth riffs that drive the tune to its spaced-out finale.

The boys are back with a new offering on Gouranga Music, Rolling Thunder, a faster, more forthright dancefloor-orientated affair that means business. Complete with gnarly arpeggiator riffs, swirling psychedelic delay lines, a trippy vocal sample borrowed from Platoon, and their now trademark driven guitar power chords. The title track has been given the remix treatment by two aficionados of the scene, firstly the Mexican dark disco wizard Mufti turns up the heat, beefs up the bass, and dials the chug up to 11 to deliver a solid dancefloor destroyer. Cosmic disco legend James Rod delivers a second remix that strips the track right back to its core elements resulting in a minimal slow burner filled with dirty analogue electronics that builds up like a pressure cooker as the track progresses towards its conclusion. The EP finishes with a third remix by the in-house label crew, Gouranga Clan, which reimagines the track as a driving interstellar trip that is sure to spin out a few right-minded partygoers!

A child of the early rave and acid house scene, his musical motto has always been "If I like it, I'll play it!"

If you cut him (please don't) he bleeds both club and festival in equal measure and was often found where his heart grew fondest at the legendary Turnmills nightclub and Big Chill Festivals.

His eclectic mixes are always recorded live and never edited, drawing on both the past and present with hints of disco, rave, funk, acid, electro and chug all with a slowed down feel underpinned bu toe-tapping driving basslines.
