At last, our very own Felix Raphael is back with yet another hauntingly beautiful release. ‘Port Horizon’ sonically ties back to his debut album released in late spring of this year. True to our philosophy however, the tracks on this EP bring out the YION co-founder’s most organic side. The layers upon layers of strings and breathy vocals of ‘Colour’ and the twangy synths and choral harmonies of ‘Port Horizon’ turn our thoughts into trance and our skin into goosebumps. After the runaway success of their Winter Collection, Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden delivers another stellar compilation of musical gems to keep you grooving and moving through those warm summer nights.  

The dynamic duo of Guhus and Sebastian Busto kick off proceedings, with their track ‘Yemel’ arriving in a flurry of chiming percussion, beautifully layered pads, and stunningly ethereal vocal samples. Yoni Yarchi’s ‘My Story’ is next up, and with it comes a deceptively catchy piano refrain and precisely the kind of shuffling backbeat that’s guaranteed to get your foot tapping by the time you hit the two-minute mark.

After releasing his debut EP for The Soundgarden, Walking Friedrichshain, back in March, SIX brings his prodigal production prowess and trademark synth-led aggression to the Summer Collection with the stomping ‘That Balance’. Label newcomer Ultraverse follows up, with his track ‘New York New York’ arriving in a haze of throbbing bass and whirring synthesisers, before Argentina’s Paul Deep takes over the reins with the decidedly melodic – and meticulously produced – ‘Anemona’. 

As we pass the halfway point of the collection, we’re greeted with label favourite Marian (AR) and his meticulously layered mid-tempo offering, ‘Parsimony’. From there, we’re whisked off into a world of fearsome synth walls and throbbing bass lines from the aptly named NOIYSE PROJECT and their offering, ‘Druid Poem’, before being gently brought back down to earth by the harmonic pads and soft snares of Kasey Taylor and Karlisle’s ‘Pans Theme’. 

Kamilo Sanclemente is no stranger to The Soundgarden, and his team-up with prodigious newcomer Juan Pablo Torrez – the pounding and vibrant ‘Leda’ – provides yet another highlight of this non-stop collection. London’s Nichols keeps the energy going with his melodic and hard-hitting effort, ‘Kaleidoscope’, before Juan Sapia closes off proceedings with the showstopping, floor-filling, and bona-fide brilliant ‘Turquoise’.

A deep magic lures and allures in ‘El Valle De Kadisha’… An ancient Lebanese valley, it’s one of the oldest natural heritage sites in the world. The Aramaeans translate Kadisha to sacred. The ancient Rumaki tribe harnessed a creative force there that they believe came from the cosmos.

The history, mythology, spiritual energy and explainable tales of Kadisha have all inspired and moved millions over the centuries. Argentinian-in-Spain Bodaishin is the latest to embrace its beguiling energy with his debut album on Do Not Sit On The Furniture.

Eight tracks deep: ‘El Valle De Kadisha’ is a celebration of the valley’s most enchanting tales. Capturing the movements of the Rumaki; the paintings they’d decorate the cave with, the voices they’d hear deep within it and the famous tribe of women who pointed the Rumaki directly through the fire and into a deep state of a timelessness, spiritual enlightenment and, eventually, rebirth.

Deep, meditative, unhurried and woven with many musical layers, Bodaishin captures the magic of this unique place in space and time with a sound that complements Do Not Sit On The Furniture’s spirit perfectly. Some sacred stories will never grow old.

Berlin based Ed Ed is a producer and DJ of 20 years who has released his his unique house sounds on imprints including Watergate Records and Exploited as well as, most often,Moodmusic. 

Here he joins forces with German three piece, Chasing Kurt, the revered production outfit who’s music has been at home on Suol, Defected, Peppermint Jam and many more. ‘Naked Walls’ is a stripped back and wonderfully warm production, built around subtly uplifting melodies and understated drum programming, all of which provides the perfect base for Chasing Kurt’s emotive and beautiful vocal performance. This has the feel of a future classic from the off with its heartfelt musical progression and touching lyrical content. The original is accompanied by an instrumental version for those who likes things vocal free.
