We were very excited to host Exist Palestine, who hold their first-ever Berlin event at Oona Bar, Weserstr. 166 on Saturday, August 20th.

Exist is a festival and event series founded in Palestine, with the aim of building bridges between artists, musicians, DJs and curators from Palestine and across the globe. Its broad, transnational family are united in a desire to use art to impact their environments in critical ways, and through their engagement with anti-colonialism in the context of Palestine and beyond.

Exist Festival’s event at Refuge Worldwide will include DJ sets by Exist extended family members Ciarra Black, Dirar Kalash, Falyakon, Kujo, Oldyungmayn, Sainte Marina, No Plastic and the festival's co-founders Odai Masri and Bint Mbareh. 

There will also be two installations on-site at Oona: an audiovisual installation by Sarah Risheq titled if_the_archive_could_speak, exploring Palestinian physical and mental archives; and a sound piece by Dirar Kalash called To Exist In Sound, which draws from audio recordings of the 1948 Nakba and 1967 Naksa.

Their choice of music style varies significantly as they feel comfortable playing anything from IDM, DnB, Psy, and all other fast styles, as well as Breakbeat, UK Bass, House and Disco. The quality of the music and its potential to create layered worlds for its observers to immerse in fully is where Xaos puts their focus when playing. Xaos currently lives in Leipzig, where they worked from 2018 to 2022 as a booker and person in charge of the programming for mjut club. In 2020 Xaos launched their label Myriad, constantly developing their musical understanding further and manifesting and sharing their musical experiences through it. To perform and share more of their sound creations, they recently started their first live project, which operates under the name Xa✴︎s and is ever-evolving, changing and growing.
