Recorded live at Love to be @ MiNT Warehouse, Leeds - UK (2024) - Marshall delivers a true house music masterclass for TU79.

An artist that has successfully navigated major cross-over success while retaining utmost respect from the inner circle of electronic music’s underground, Marshall has been behind countless seminal records over his five-decade career. Now this retrospective compilation showcases the impressive and vast output of this house pioneer, ranging from his most well-known solo records, to major production credits, key remixes and the underground gems still favoured by selectors today.

Cutting his teeth as a producer for Chicago’s Universal Recording Studios, Marshall was one of the most active DJ and producers on the Windy City’s music scene during the 1980’s house music boom. Working under a plethora of aliases such as Virgo, Jungle Wonz, Truth and On The House, as well as producing for names such as CeCe Rogers, Curtis McClain and Evelyn "Champagne" King, the compilation opens with what is arguably Marshall’s most famous record, ‘Move Your Body’. The first recorded house track to use piano, it has remained a staple of dancefloors across the globe, with Solardo and Marshall’s rework (as heard on the compilation) only further cementing its legacy.

On the same day that man took his first steps on the Moon, a few hours after the triumphant Apollo 11 mission, one of the most important figures in Brazilian electronic music was born: Anderson Noise.

The DJ and producer began his career in the late 80s and was responsible for shaping and guiding the still primitive direction of Brazilian dance music, whether behind some of the most legendary parties in the mid-90s and 00s, the first radio station dedicated to electronic music in the country or the first Brazilian techno label, Noise Music — the word "first" is often used when we talk about Noise.

With an incessantly productive rhythm, Anderson has completed 35 years of career with no sign of any possible slowdown — quite the opposite. With a rare energy, Noise has become a kind of institution and synonymous of Brazilian techno, with a relevance that doesn't conform to past merits, but remains fresh and current whether through its own releases and performance schedule, or through its constant involvement with new projects.

Noise's a figure that we constantly celebrate and has already been featured in Alataj's main columns and podcasts, but now it's time for his debut on Troally. For volume 379, the Minas Gerais native explores the facets of techno that are part of his musical universe established over these almost four decades, while also explaining the reasons why the position he occupies is definitely for few.
