Derek Carr is a name known by few and far between, with only a handful of vinyl releases in the early 2000s, he built a worthy but unfortunately not widely-spread reputation for putting together stunning deep techno. Originally pressed in finite numbers, the records have recently found themselves in demand on Discogs, and rightly so, Derek’s music is in a class of its own. Having been a big fan since his releases on then local (to label owner Ben) Leeds label Geek records, For Those That Knoe has dug deep into the archives to put together a sizeable selection of Derek’s back catalogue, with some unreleased gems dotted amongst the classic must-haves, spread across three EPs

Part three in Derek’s starts with Cuba, probably the most sought after track in his back catalogue. It's stunning simplicity and charming summer vibe puts it amongst Derek's greatest works and understandably so. Red then slots into the A2 position which was originally released under the radar on a Headspace compilation. As warm as Cuba but with an added touch of melancholy. Truly outstanding deep house.

Iceberg takes things back more into techno territory with a funked up bass line, stepping rhythms, Detroit strings and those trademark twinkly leads. Finally Penthouse Apartment 3AM a lush electro breakbeat track from the very hard to find Trident release, rounds off the EP with aplomb.

From Berlin to Bangkok, Sense Of Sun is the founder and label head of Family Unit. While solely focusing on his music career, he has risen to prominence within the international club and festival scene. With influences in deep, minimal and classic house, he has a knack for producing tracks with hypnotic and dreamy textures. His latest EP on Palms & Flamingos 'Love Orion' showcases that talent. With Wyatt 6AM on Remix duties on his house track 'Love Structure', he transforms it into a minimal house track with a infections hi-hat pattern sequence, bouncy bassline, extraterrestrial melodics and a ninja like swooping sound looping in the background. 

'Love Orion' will be out on Beatport on March 25th, 2019.

Mandar’s brand new record label Hakki starts off with a serene and smashing hot record from the Mandar guys themselves. 

‘Hanine’ opens the EP with a sexy groove and rumbling low bassline that just feels like it’s about to burst any moment. The restraint and suspense is kept in check by a beautiful dubby melody and subtle melodic riff’s popping up here and there. The tracks powerful suspense and energy building capacity makes it a perfect after hour tune.

‘Midan’ is a straight forward no bullshit 909 groove with a bassline that will make your granny shiver. A funky acid melody gets layered on top elevating the track quality to that of a song. If Hanine is the foreplay, then Midan is definitely the orgasm.

Bass Culture Records enters 2020 with a powerful remix package. Label boss D'Julz called up some of his good friends to step up and rework his own music for this nifty little collection. On the bill are Point G, Carl Finlow and Midnight Special, each bringing their own unique flavours to D'Julz's original work. 

On side A we have Paris legend Point G remixing 'Lemon Juice'. On the first of two versions, he delivers a typically avant-garde production with an elastic bassline and dank, mystical atmospherics. On the 'dub version' Point G gives us a heads down, minimal roller which is dense and deadly.  

Flip the record over and we have Carl Finlow's punchy rework of 'Wrecka Stow'. This feels very eighties with supersonic synths, laser beams and intergalactic FX bouncing all over the place. Emotive and highly danceable, it's a seriously enjoyable remix. 

Closing the remix EP is Midnight Special's reinterpretation of 'Singularity', which turns the solemn original into a jump up dancefloor banger, complete with razor sharp 4x4 beats and a highly contagious bouncing b-line. Hints of the original are there, but this is a total makeover that completely transforms the vibe of D'Julz's production.
