Heinrich Dressel's “Polarlys” is the first album of unreleased tracks published by Musica Per Immagini, or a soundtrack for a imaginary noir film set in the icy waters of northern Europe, inspired by the book “The Mystery of the Polarlys” by Georges Simenon. Drones and ethereal atmospheres are paired with a cinematic background in order to describe the frost of the northern seas and the restlessness of the journey: beyond the classic analog sounds, a specific use of additive and vector synthesis particularly in vogue during the Nineties and typical of vintage synthesizers.

The Netherlands has proven to be fertile ground for electronic talent. Few can turn their hand to the range of styles that Ian Martin can, even fewer can match his sheer quality. Shipwrec are delighted to welcome this talent to the label with four tracks making up "Future Dawn." Cosmic Garden opens. A piece that blurs genre lines, soft synthlines are coupled with ruffled rhythms that immerses the listener in gentle orchestral ebbs and flows. Sounds of isolation introduce "Future Dawn", modulations reaching over an ever-widening expanse before strings descend. Drums arrive late in this atmospheric journey, a journey that pulses with a primal energy while conjuring vivid images. The ominously titled "Dead Calm" opens the flip. Soundtracks have always been an inspiration for Martin and the scores of the silver screen are at the forefront of this work. Brittle beat patterns are the bedrock on which melodies whirl, a bitter acid bass bubbling as tension builds to paranoic peaks. Darker skies loom with the marine chop of "Phantom Machine" finishing. A flotsam and jetsam of hi hats swirl in the liquid undulations of distorted bass and aquatic echoes, rougher rusted rhythms providing ballast to the eddies and maelstrom of Martin's machines.

Eddie Reynolds aka Tr One/Themisto Man is a DJ and producer based in Carlow, Ireland. A much-respected figure within Ireland’s fertile electronic music scene, Reynolds cites the likes of Dublin’s D1 Recordings, Kraftwerk and J Dilla as early influences. Equally inspired by vintage sounds from Chicago and Detroit. 

Fast-forward over close to 15 years and although the project may now consist of Reynolds only, his dedication to all things house, techno and electro remains unwavering. A prolific producer, Reynolds’ sounds have led him to some of his country’s most-renowned labels, including Lunar Disko, Apartment, Bodytonic, 393 and Pogo and his new imprint Intrinsic Rhythm. What’s more, his music has earned the respect of numerous high-profile names such as Moodymann, Laurent Garnier, Prosumer and many more and has been remixed by a stellar cast including Scott Ferguson, Sonja Moonear, Cignol, Dechord, Lerosa and John Heckle.


From a DJ perspective, Reynolds has played in all of Ireland and Dublin’s foremost nightspots including Twisted Pepper, Wigwam, Tengu, District 8 and beyond in Belfast, London, Manchester and Berlin.  A DJ with a truly eclectic vision, this is represented in the names he has played alongside. From Juan Atkins to DJ Stingray to Helena Hauff, Dave Clarke, Surgeon, Jeff Mills, DVS1,  Maurice Fulton and Steffi, Reynolds is a DJ capable of stepping up under any occasion. From a live perspective he blazed a trail in Ireland with a unique hardware based live show which was recently resurrected for 2022's Open Ear Festival and will be performing further dates in 2023.


Reynolds’ latest endeavours have brought him to release an acclaimed debut album on his new imprint Intrinsic Rhythm and prior to this releases on scene-shaping British label Don’t Be Afraid (where in 2019 he released one of his most-cherished releases to date, the magnificent ‘A Month Has Passed’ EP), as well as Lunar Disko, where he collaborated again, this time alongside compatriot R Kitt on the no-less-emphatic sounds of LDRX7 as well as the solo ChiCarlow EP. With recent releases on Mexican imprint Short Attention, Tokyo based Ashigakari and Dublin imprint First Cut these are exciting times for one of Ireland’s most consistent electronic music producers.


He also has released under new alias Themisto Man and is continuing to work and release music from his base in Carlow, Ireland and will soon ready his second vinyl release on Intrinsic Rhythm complete with a remix by Mihail P and has future plans for the label including work by John Heckle and more.
