He is known for his ability to infuse groove into his techno, DJ LIGMA has quickly gained a reputation for delivering energetic and captivating performances. His seamless transitions and carefully curated track selections keep the crowd moving and create an unforgettable atmosphere on the dancefloor. His style is heavily influenced by the infectious sounds of the late 90's and early 2000's dance music era (Hardgroove, Hard house, Ghetto Tech, and minimal/tribal techno).

Mauro Medina is a 25-year-old DJ and music production student from Buenos Aires, Argentina. His musical style currently encompasses fast groove and techno, with influences from the Detroit sound. Resident and member of Blink Sound and founder of Chicago Haus, a new queer party in Buenos Aires, which allowed him to re-explore the House, Acid and Chicago genres. The party proposes to demonstrate and expand the emerging and established talents of local dissidence, adding all types of artistic demonstration and varying the sound line in each edition, so that each guest feels free to express their selection as they please.

This week’s entry to the Local Selection welcomes Dublin-based DJ, producer and promoter Corcra for the 227th edition of the series. The Float resident swerves through a fine selection of disco-house cuts, setting a lovely precedent of spending quality time with loved ones. Bliss!

Corcra’s sound preference as an artist leans on the groove of disco, funk, soul, and old-school house. He has cracked the code of supplying hours of music that keeps the dance floor filled, spanning decades from old to fresh remixes of classics that partygoers know and love. Not to mention a deep collection of uncommon gems to accompany his esteemed selections. This has resulted in Corcra picking up various slots at some of Ireland’s best festivals which include Electric Picnic, All Together Now and BD while picking up a lucrative support slot for LA LA and Chantel Kavanagh at Index back in September.

His love for booty-shaking music sees him weave through modern disco house, deriving inspiration from acts like Purple Disco Machine, Mousse T, and Horse Meat Disco. While gaining massive influence from his mother’s remarkable taste this has given his sets a sprinkle of 90s and early 2000s club dance tunes setting Corcra even further afield as a standout DJ renowned for his stylistic flavour.

This mix emulates everything great about disco-house, the upbeat and fun-loving selections throughout are ideal for transporting the listener back to great weather and good times with friends with not a care in the world. Corcra lets the music do the talking here and it can be heard in the form of funk and groove throughout. Truly outstanding stuff.

Local Selection 227: CORCRA

Niall is a 22 year old Irish based artist specialising in Hardgroove, Hypnotic & Tribal techno. He has a passion for all forms of electronic music, but his true sound is heavily influenced by the late 90s & early 2000s era of loop-driven techno, however, it’s no surprise to hear a variety of genres from both the new and the old era's in Niall’s highly energetic sets. 

He has performed all over Ireland in the last 2 years, with multiple headline shows in various Irish cities like Galway, Sligo, Limerick & Dublin. 

In Summer 2023, Niall made his first Irish festival appearances at Electric Picnic & Life Festival, and also wrapped up his first tour in Canada & America alongside his former collective, with performances in Vancouver, San Diego, San Francisco, Chicago & New York. 

This tour allowed him to share his musical talents & knowledge on an international scale for the first time & gave him great exposure doing so. 

Niall has notably supported many international artists like Hector Oaks, X-Club, Azyr, Partiboi69, Skin on Skin, Riot Code, Salute and Testpress. The above list of artists shows Niall’s sheer versatility on the decks and that he is not limited to playing just one genre. He is also a lover of all-night-long sets, having completed 6 to date with hopefully many more in the future. 

In the world of production, Niall embarked on his creative journey in January 2023, and it has been quite a successful one so far. He’s gotten 3 releases under his belt to date, and they have already received support from artists such as VTSS, TRYM, Boyz Noize, Bad Boombox, Juicy Romance & 2qwik2gruv. 

With more projects currently in the pipeline, including his first label releases & remixes, he doesn't show any sign of stopping soon with his productions.

For our first mix, we'd like to showcase the sound of our co-founder,  Paqué.

At his core lies the exploration of electronic dance music, which has led to the creation of Utilized. Embracing diverse genres and melding them into a groove-centered, 90s-influenced style.

From his home base in Rotterdam, he is making waves with a fresh and unique sound, with releases forthcoming on admired labels such as @asw-collective, @rave-your-soul, and @deadlinerec.
