The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix from Pierce With Arrow. The collaborative project of minimal techno pioneer Troy Pierce and Colombian audiovisual artist Natalia Escobar aka Poison Arrow, recently released their collaborative debut, Shatter (DAIS), which is a powerful work of sound and visual art. Veering from the producers’ well known dance floor oriented sound, Shatter is a cinematic record which masterfully weaves through different emotions and atmospheres. Their mix for us takes their sound and constructs a mind bending journey.

This show with guest: Tin Man and Foreign Material

Born in 1978 and raised in California, Tin Man started releasing records in 2004 and established his reputation as a solid techno producer, with impactful releases on labels such as Acid Test, Killekill, and Pomelo.

Foreign Material has a Conservatoire and History background, which shaped his interest in dark atmospheres and techno music. His spirit of techno is a mix of ancient myths and futuristic visions. He is known for his releases on Curle, Norite and Supercinema.

BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix - Marcel Dettmann

DSSarkives:  is a section where we will be posting sessions from artists who have somehow influenced the vision of dance music for our residents, friends, and collaborators. We will also share some sessions that we believe have very unique, strange, and hard-to-find characteristics on the internet.

For this first edition, we have this set by Troy Pierce (a veteran of M_nus) in "afterhours" mode in Medellin, Colombia. It's not your typical "energetic" or full of "fluffy" after-hours tracks, as you might expect. Instead, it's a set with a rather slowed-down tempo, we're talking about a set between 115 - 118 bpm... that remains dark, relaxing, loopy, and slowly creates a mesmerizing atmosphere.

From the first day we heard this set, we were very impressed and considered it highly influential for us due to its attitude and direction. It's a set that, even after 15 years, still sounds very modern and fresh. We love dance music, and this is a clear example that you don't need a fast-paced session with many hits to make a select group of people dance at an after-hours event.

We apologize for the audio quality of the set, but it's the only version available on the internet. It's quite a rare set. Nevertheless, we love it and want to share it with everyone.

This mix was recorded live from Reaktor's Katharsis event in 2017.  For those that don't know, Katharsis happens once a year and is dedicated to the faster, harder and more industrial side of techno.  This was my entire 3 hour set from that night.

Over the last few years we have built a steady relationship doing events together and sharing our passion for this music.  We are teaming up once again for ADE 2018 and releasing this mix as a thank you to all our followers and supporters.

Part II of ’25 BITCHES’ with new remixes by GAISER, MARC HOULE & HEARTTHROB
TROY PIERCE (aka Louderbach, Slacknoise and one third of Run Stop Restore with Magda and Marc Houle) unleashes one of the year’s most anticipated tracks with ’25 BITCHES’. The original track goes back a while, coming into creation as a joke composed while stuck waiting in an airport. Not like humor is never ever a part of Troy’s music or persona, ’25 Bitches’ has been knocking down doors in his and fellow DJ’s sets like Magda and Richie Hawtin since last fall. Pierce’s bass-heavy mix starts off full of dark ghosts, working into a dub bassline and surgical mix of effects and vocals.

GAISER packs dynamite into his reworking with ‘Too Many Bitches Makeover’. Explosive bass and a sonic edginess are Gaiser’s weapons, working with percussion and effects into a fever-pitched remix that has been destroying dancefloors in Gaiser’s live sets and DJ sets by Pierce & Hawtin worldwide for months. MARC HOULE reworks ‘Bitches’ like he’s dragging it through an arcade floor from the 1980’s. His bounce and snap treatment turns the original on its side, carving in a pop-ish attitude and a new aggressive side to Houle’s electro wisdom. Under the controls, HEARTTHROB detunes and operates the subject into a haunted bendy swing, adding his soon-to-be-signature bassline. It’s the slow punch and melody that Heartthrob hooks into with his grinding yet flowing treatment.
