Amongst personal favorites from The Persuader (Svek’s Jesper Dahlbäck) she’s not afraid to loop in her own productions from Minus and her new label (along with Marc Houle and Troy Pierce), Items & Things.

This week's Source to Cycle podcast comes from Guido Schneider. 0:00 Slownessity
This was one of a bunch of tracks i made when experimenting with slower than 120 BPM tempos.  they all had slow in the title I think but it was really fun to drop the tempo down to get different moods than I was used to getting.  It's sped up for the mix but most of the mood is still there.

3:20 Return
I made this track back in '07 when I picked up the FutureRetro Revolution. I was playing around with the remix buttons on it and recorded this track.

7:30 Dream Sequence
Part of a group of tracks I made investigating possible new sounds for what would eventually become the Drift album (2010).  It has the same guitar darkness that Drift has but not sparse and as moody.

11:15 Mals
I made Mals after hooking up my studio in Berlin for the first time. It started as a way to test some of the synths and microphones coming from North America but had a nice slack feel to it so I made it into a track. Magda used to play it all the time.

12:58 Zed 
Created after seeing a sign about when you're on fire (you should stop, drop, roll).  I wanted to make some slow acid and the words were still on my mind and were used as filler vocals. 

18:09 Veranda 
This was a throwback to the old way I used to make the Run Stop Restore bouncy basslines.  I think this is when I first bought the guitar and was seeing what weird sounds I could make with it and if it fit into dance music.

22:50 Melting (Drift LP, Minus98)
I like this track because it has a high synth melody that disappears when the big thunder sound happens as if it's scared and slowly comes back in when it's safe.

25:50 Seeing In The Dark (Drift LP, Minus98)
One night I was passing out on a friend's couch and my friend Tijana was trying to wake me up - her vocals were so cool I had to wake up and record them.  I did the reverse, add reverb and reverse again trick to make them swell.

29:20 Yummy 
This was another outtake of the Drift album. 

32:00 Blackout
Part of the experiments along with Dream Sequence. The vocals are from 2VM's Veronica Vasicka. 

36:00 Sister Of Plie
This was a funny track that I worked on with Magda. It started out as Klie, then after a bunch of changes became Brother of Klie then eventually Sister of Plie.  It's a weird broken kind of sounding track.

39:31 Bassomatic
Totally inspired by the old 70's sounds i heard on Canadian Public television usually playing behind narrations of National Parks. Television played a huge part of my childhood and TV in Canada has some great synthy sounds back then.

44:22 Slow Cooked
Another Drift outtake I think.

47:10 Demor (Restore LP, Minus23)
Run Stop Restore in feel this was from my first EP on Minus. There is a lot going on but it still manages to sound sparse and moody.

50:29 Black Star (Where Is Kittin? EP, Items & Things IT022)
The first day we made 'Where is Kittin?' and the 2nd day we returned to the studio to make something more grave, serious and dark sounding.  We were playing around with her voice through different effects and after writing the lyrics, she came in and we recorded some really great vocals. The rest of the track were some soundscape rough ideas I was working on but with the vocals it all fell into place. Lots of Eventide reverbs on this one.
