Wild Dark - Born By The River Ft. Alex Who (Nhii Remix)

Robbie Akbal is a Mexican organic house artist who recently launched his new record label, Midnight Riders. The label's new release features enchanting original music from Robbie Akbal alongside remixes by Alex Twin and Jim Rider. 

Midnight Riders is sister label to Robbie Akbal's long-established Akbal Music with the aim of creating an outlet for the more melodic side of his sound. 

One of North America's most respected underground artists, Robbie Akbal is known for his laidback grooves with soothing melodies and earthy percussion. He has travelled the world to DJ everywhere from Berlin to Tokyo, and is also a skilled producer that along with releasing music via his own record labels, has also featured on other prestigious imprints such as Sol Selectas and Crosstown Rebels. 

On remix duty, Alex Twin is an organic house artist from Dubai who is a driving force within the country's club scene where he DJs regularly. He is also a talented producer who has built up a back catalogue including music on labels such as Bar 25, Cosmic Awakenings and Pipe & Pochet. 

Also providing a remix, Jim Rider is a UK artist with close ties to Lee Burridge and his record labels All Day I Dream, TRYBESof and Tale & Tone. He has also released his majestic style via the likes of Kindisch and Akbal Music. 

"Phangan" is the solo original track on this release and it's a mesmerising piece of music that orientates around upbeat percussion and trippy synth pads, which lay the foundation for a stunning sitar performance by Sidartha Siliceo. The track's breakdown is cut by dramatic bursts of percussion as it builds suspense to when the kick drum reappears and the sitar lifts it to new levels of psychedelia. 

Alex Twin's remix of Phangan loops sections of the sitar and adds additional percussion to create a chunky groove that doesn't lose any of the original's trippy vibes while stepping the energy up a gear. 

Jim Rider's remix adds a melodic bassline and epic synths that give his version an expansive sound, which creates an uplifting vibe shrouded in an immersive atmosphere that's perfect for the dance floor.

For its sixth release, Around Midnight chose to showcase the mesmerizing work of French artist Rammö. A prolific producer based in the South of France, Rammö also graced the decks of famous festivals such as Wonderfruit in Thailand, Afrikaburn or Moga Festival to name just a few. His signature sound, a trippy flow mixing only recorded sounds and acid synthesizers, is highlighted in this "Paradox Dream" E.P through 2 originals and 1 remix. "Paradox Plant" leads us to an elevation in slow motion thanks to spellbinding drums combined with distorted synthesizers and incantatory vocals. The track slowly walks us into the depths of our perceptions, where green fumes eventually transform into beautiful and rewarding visions. At the core of the second track, "Pablo's Dream", modulated French lyrics stand out for the voice of our subconscious gently carrying us into a paradoxical reality. Meanwhile, the round signature baseline punctuated by acid drops of synthesizers slowly opens up around the vocals like flower petals : a joyful dip into the enlightening shadows of our inner self. The remix of "Pablo's Dream" by the Happy Camper Records duo Unders and Noraj Cue conveys a deep clubbing vibe through the use of stronger beats and a higher pitch coupled with playful variations on the main theme that expand the original to another dimension while preserving its dreamy and introspective purpose. The Seattle-based artist monotropa. returns to the Tremulant label to once again explore deep sensations and cosmic vibrations through musical expression. The Distancia EP executes this through three textural tracks that combine elements of house, techno, and ambient atmosphere. Remixes from El Mundo, Wesley Holmes, and Slow Shadow go even further into distant territory.

"Distancia" starts the EP with a floor-ready pulse, flowing with synthetic chord hits and arpeggiated gyrations over a steady four-on-the-floor ride. A cinematic breakdown envelopes the cut with shining melody and impulsive drama. This is followed by "Torrente" which utilizes tones resembling the gentle rings of a thumb-piano as its backbone. Buzzing synth bass, ominous drones, and flashes of percussion rise and fall with expansive depth. "Lavar" is more laid back though no less layered or spacious than anything else on Distancia. A processed guitar-like riff hypnotically riffs on top of chord pads and a mid-tempo house beat, all giving the feel of a transcendent moment on the way.

@elmundomusicpage (Quetame Records) supplies the first remix with a version of the title track It's a bouncy trip through exotic places and faraway fauna, where jungle sounds abound as a tribal rhythm carries the cut through strobe-lit valleys. Seattle house music veteran Wesley Holmes next tackles "Lavar," offering a decidedly west coast flavored take that's atmospheric, psychedelic, and perfect for afterhours dancefloors. The EP closes out with a rework of "Lavar" by Slow Shadow, a nom-de-plume of Tremulant's Joe Bellingham. It's an acid-tinged downtempo treatment, enhanced by a pair of distinctive vocal contributions. Vibes for days and days.

The song expresses the longing and craving for love. It was born during a period when both of us were navigating through ups and downs in our relationships. Creating this track was a good way to share, find support, see new perspectives, and express and share the emotions we were going through. The phrase "in between" is kept open as it invites people to relate it to their own stories, such as in between conflicts and difficulties, in between distance, in between joy, in between worlds (heaven and earth, rocks and skies), and in between doubts, among others.

Hello friends, I'm glad to share with you a remix I did for my friends Husa & Zeyada of their song "Trick of the mind". 

I love their musical project since the very first second I heard their music and it feels super aligned to have been able to retouch one of their album's song. 

Adam & I have been friends for a long time now, he’s been a pillar in our Montréal electronic scene and its been so exciting to follow his Egyptian journey alongside Rola in the recent years! They truly create magic together. 

I remember to this day having an instant "wow" moment when I watched their first Husa & Zeyada video in the desert. 🏜️ 

That soul, that synergy, that voice & that dust! Their co-creation is inspiring and I'm thankful I could work on a remix for them! 🪘
