Remembering Elidon

My biggest question with the Continuum Fingerboard was "How does it mix with other synths?". It's a different world, but it certainly adds something unique to the mix. It mixes great!

I'm thinking of making more use of acoustic drum samples in the future. So this is a little test snippet where I'm testing the ground. I like it. :)

A Level I Understand (snippet)

The Continuum Fingerboard probably has got the world's best violin synthesis. This unique key-less soft surface lets you push your sounds to life slowly, or quickly, depending on how you interact with the surface. Here's an experiment where I'm playing the opening of Mozart's widely known K465 string quartet known as Dissonance, due to it's, at the time, challenging and out of the ordinary harmonics. I wanted to see if this type of music is possible to play on a synth. And with the Continuum Fingerboard, I think it is possible!

As you can hear I'm playing without any auto tuning aid, to get the most authentic fretless sound. It takes some concentration to play in the right pitch - but it's also opening up for deliberately playing low, high, tempered, clean, with a personal vibrato etc. The sound becomes an extension of your fingers.

I made this sountrack for a... let's call it a space film intitled Incalcitranous Rex, directed and envisioned by Matt Willis-Jones. It's a half animated epic silent film space journey.
The 2 minute dark intro is followed by an lighter and emotionally loaded part. Please enjoy. It's all played on an OP-1, recorded and treated in Logic Pro.

This music was originally made for the promo trailer of Wii game The Kore Gang. Credits goes to "Kotten" for mastering my composition with better sounds and fixing some small things. I think it was used for some pitching and promo work before a deal was in place.

This is the song I made for the "Rumble When Buble" OP-1 collaboration album some time ago. I wrote it at a time when I felt there was very little room for music, and cuckoo, with very little appreciation both from record label and at home. But now the winds are changing. I might record it anew for the album. We'll see. :)
