All Systems Failure, the third single from Picture One’s upcoming full length Hearts of the Terminus, thematically explores the idea of the failing social systems around us and our roles within them. The song focuses on our inability to fully view the moving parts of current complex structures as we move through them, and our ultimate ability to more clearly view older power structures and their failings.

After a year-long hiatus from the label, Anjunabeats luminary Grum returns with the ‘Isolation EP’. 

Graeme Shepherd, better known as Grum, hails from Glasgow. His relationship with Anjunabeats stretches back to 2015, when Above & Beyond signed him to the label over a glass of whisky one night after a gig. A string of brilliant singles followed: ‘U’, ‘Shout’, ‘Shining’ and ‘Price Of Love’ to name a few, plus his Anjunabeats Worldwide 07 compilation, which charted on Billboard’s Dance / Electronic Album chart. 

His long-awaited artist album ‘Deep State’ - released in November 2019 - was a triumph, cementing his place at the forefront of progressive trance. 

Featuring four new cinematic, beatless compositions, the ‘Isolation EP’ sees Grum journey into new territory.

“Over the past year I've spent an awful lot of time by myself. Once I'd fully understood what was happening, I realised I would now have a lot of time on my hands. On recommendation from Jordi van Achthoven (one half of Tinlicker), I turned to music as a form of therapy and escapism. With no clubs open for the foreseeable future, I started discovering and rediscovering music and genres that I hadn't listened to before, or hadn't listened to in years. I ended up really enjoying ambient, classical and film soundtrack music from the likes of Max Richter, Trent Reznor, Japan and M83. The result is the ‘Isolation EP’. As well as providing a bit of escapism for myself, I hope it will help transport you somewhere else for a small part of your day.” - Grum

There’s an old adage about Boston and how its residents will treat you: cold, distant, and standoffish at the start, but over time what emerges is a certain warmth, a sort of familial bond that takes shape and becomes apparent just when you either need it most or when you least expect it. In a way, that oddly reflects the music and mood of True Faith: a disaffected twirl through the shadows of post-punk, darkwave, and electronic-pop, but with a cerebral center based in the emotive state of the human condition. Like a proper Bostonian, it reveals its different layers the longer you spend time with it, and its affection slowly begins to glow from a core that is remarkably gentle and affirming. 

Their debut album, As Much Nothing as Possible, as it stands on the precipice of its release, is a testament to where True Faith is at this moment in time, both as a musical project entrenched in a new, more minimal brand of darkwave synth, but also for who Benson and Moyer are as people, living in a new city, approaching, embracing and at times rejecting the guarded layers that surround the skepticism of the people who call Boston home. And as the stark exterior begins to fade away, revealing the emotion hardened at its center, the album suggests this is just the beginning of a larger, as-yet-undefined story.
