'Tensnake welcomes Glasgow & Reykjavik based producer ILO who adds to a classy back catalogue peppered with the deeper shades of Detroit Techno, Chicago House, Jazz, Funk and Electronica.

'Waking Up' is a chic record that showcases ILO's knack for sound design, mood-control and the subtle development of tension.

'Waking Up' kicks things off with a masterful slice of Deep House that rolls out an elastic and cool-headed groove. At the track's heart, buttery chords are spread in deliciously thick layers while ethereal vocals glide overhead. A ripe kick and another snarling bass line provide a contrasting grit, having the track kicking in all the right places.

Drums eventually grab the lime light at the conclusion of an atypical DJ tool: one that stands out in its ability to build energy and marshal a trip from A to B.

'Trust Me' follows up with Snipped vocals that are soaked in reverb and married with luscious synths to form a sonic cloud that plumes across the track while drums gather impetus. Tensnake's True Romance consistently omitted joy across what was still a slightly unsteady 2022 for dance music. Records from Ben Gomori, Jesse Bru and Factory Frequencies showed resilience against dance floor doubt and now - the label carries that energy forwards as it kicks off another year of positive party jams.

Number 54 in the catalogue brings with it the return of long term label friend Dan Corco. For this record, Corco makes his return alongside regular production pal Max Muller and together the duo synergise for a Disco / House crossover that whips up some fervid dance-floor tension.

'Fancy' kicks things off with a filtered funk loop which snowballs through thick, punchy drum work. Vocal flicks and a broad, spacious breakdown build up a completely irresistible vibe across a highly effective DJ tool.

'Rising High' then follows a similar format as nifty percussive elements pepper a pure party jam. Filters bring jubilant tones into focus while drums steadily fill out the frequency spectrum which works to galvanise a peak time energy.

Across it's ever-expanding catalogue, Tensnake's True Romance has become synonymous with positivity and vibrancy and has consistently delivered a stream of beatific dance floor moments. Their next release delivers again as Cologne based Claus Casper steps up with his second outing on the label - a record which follows his first on True Romance which featured Disco dignitary Gerd Janson. 

Originally flourishing against a backdrop of a burgeoning German Hip Hop scene - a young Casper caught inspiration after a party at Amsterdam's legendary IT Club. Fast forward across a 30 year career - he presents 'Le Mirage'; a single which comes galvanised with a radio edit and a stripped back dub. The glowing soul of the record is a bright, tumbling sequence which suffuses fervent chord shifts with colour. Cow bells, walking bass and bold percussive flashes add a rich sense of drama to the track while the dub dims the lights and lets the drums do the talking.

'True Romance continue to deliver those balmy grooves with a a slice of fresh-air Filter Disco from the Las Vegas based Dynamique.

Across releases on Symphonic, Disco Motion and NDYD, Dynamique has honed a refined poolside vibe characterised predominantly by truncated Funk loops and bright, sturdy drums.

'Dance 4 Love' rolls out this trope beautifully as a short, snappy bass line bumps under full swing strings and rapturous little snapshots of vocal.

Loops are stretched and contracted and punctuated by short breaks that work to maintain a sense of giddy vibrancy that will no doubt resonate across the final weeks of summer.'

2024 saw German producer Tom Breu pay homage to the White Island with his re-working of a Chris Rhea's Balearic classic 'On The Beach'. Breu's club-ready version breathed a fresh, balmy air into the original whilst also allowing its identity to remain intact; his subtle vocals adding a respectful twist to the iconic melody.

Now, much to Breu's delight - True Romance welcome in venerated legend Rodriguez Jr. for his own reimagining of this classic; a challenge that the F-Communications, Crosstown Rebels and Poker Flat affiliate tackles with aplomb.

His take is as serene and crystalline as the Med as it gently unfolds behind kinetic stabs and rich, stirring piano chords. The drums are precise but delicate, providing a steady ballast while the energy gradually courses onwards and upwards.

Eventually the track's hook blooms, at which point synth lines and vocals weave together in a beautiful tapestry - one that in Breu's words 'captures the essence of iconic beach destinations like Ibiza, Mykonos or Tulum - perfect for hot summer nights and warm winter escapes'.

'Milan producer Steal Tapes makes a welcome return to True Romance, following up records for Disco Fever and MINE IS YOURS and adding further facets to a continually diversifying sound.

'Blues' is a cut of raw, reduced House Music stripped right back to its most potent ingredients. Ripe and well rounded drums bump straight out of the gates, platforming a snake hips bass line and choked organ stabs that form a Brawther-esque groove that'll grip the floor from the get go.
