"I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness" (Allen Ginsberg, Howl), a sampled quote that lends as inspiration for Carbon’s newest EP “Madness”, and his strong return to Shadow Wulf Records. 

The EP features two exceptional techno tracks that drive the listener willingly into insanity with gripping arp melodies and dark driving bass, and gives a welcome peek into the master creative mind of Carbon (aka Riewert Peterson) – whose music has been featured on heavyweight labels like Senso Sounds, Alula Tunes, Jannowitz, MoonBootique, Phobos, Soupherb and many more.  

With “Madness” featuring vocal segments of  the poem ‘Howl’, the vocals are spoken by an ethereal female voice musing on the nature of insanity, and “Ridiculous” enhancing the subject matter further with unencumbered cackling laughter – both tracks lend to an inspired concept paired with relentless dark groove and techno energy. 

To top it off, The EP features the dark techno lord himself, Maksim Dark, marking this his second release on Shadow Wulf.  He provides a riveting remix of the title track in his signature minimal style and artfully crafted to enhance the hysteria to dizzying heights. 

It’s not a stretch to say that if this is Carbon's world of Madness, we'd gladly stay here forever and welcome insanity.

January the 20th meet Velasquez to deliver his two-tracks techno release titled "Coinsidencias" to IAMT!

"Coincidencias" - I wanted to give a cosmic touch and avant-garde deep and melodic sounds to this track. My idea is to travel in time going from less to more in the evolution of the track.

"XXHH" - was inspired by a set by Richie Hawtin which he played with a vocal, which simulated with a chord that came in a serum package and helped me a lot to the creative process of this.

DORT is the third part of my Hamburg-Trilogy using the old street names of the ruined old Hamburg town as track titles. Fire, the Hamburg Senat and the World War 2 destroyed the former face of this city. I’ve found a website with old photos which were taken just before the areas were broken down, and I had the cringe vision of dancing people in their historical clothes on techno vibes in all the streets as a rebellion against their expulsion. HIER means Hamburg-Neustadt where I live, DORT describes the burnt Altstadt, and DA is the northern Part of the Neustadt. Lets dance in the streets on the graves of arsonists, warmongers and real estate sharks!

A maiden collaboration for Siege and Fer BR results in a debut EP on Truesoul. 

The Belgian Siege and Spaniard Fer BR, have long admired one another’s work, all the while sharing a desire to release music on Truesoul. Siege reworked Green Velvet’s ‘Bigger Than Prince’ which garnered support from Adam Beyer, while Fer BR’s rolling techno productions on labels such as Mindshake and Minus put him on the Swede’s radar. Their contribution to Drumcode’s little brother imprint felt fated. 

The title track, ‘Say My Name’, is a bumping ghetto house bomb, heavy on attitude. ‘Something’ combines boundless percussive energy with a hazy vocal break and begs to be played on an Ibiza terrace this summer. ‘Or What’ is a pearl of a track, characterised by stomping low-slung beats, bass stabs and a building, otherworldly melody line. A perfect slice of chunk to drop at an afterhours session. ‘Put It Down’ concludes the four-tracker in rugged style, popping with array of industrial effects and tripped-out sonics.

A fresh techno project from a new production talent, Truesoul delivers the debut EP from Ango Tamarin. The artist first connected with Adam Beyer via a link from fellow Ibiza resident Chris Spero of Dense & Pika. His work offers a triumvirate of rolling bubblers, heavy on functionality.

Expertly-rendered title track 'What Was That' steps forward as the pacesetter, rupturing on impact after a supercharged build-up cuts the track loose, releasing its propulsive core. 'Cat Man Do' possesses an infectious energy, built around a smack-dab groove, thumping bottom end and mechanical stabs. Asserting that he knows how to invigorate a dancefloor, the EP closes with 'Catch The Donkey', an effortlessly bouncy, bustling track that impresses with intricacy.

We are back at it with the second edition of our new Bones To Pick various artists series. Kicking off the compilation is a catchy record from longtime label friends Wait For Me and FreeSurf. It is full of analog goodness and sadly relatable as the girls aren't the only the ones who have been 'up in that house' for a while now. Skene Music delivers a chunky tune that will have you tempted to 'Try This' when you scroll by it in your playlist, followed by new Canadian duo Start Sign as they take a vocal classic and twist it up with a driving bass line and modern tech house vibe. MUUS, Will On Cloud Nine and BearKat round off the collection with funky records of their own that will be sure to get some love on the dance floors (once we can all party again of course). Returning after a six-month break, Truesoul delivers a pair of uplifting cuts from Bart Skils, marking his debut on Drumcode’s little brother imprint.

One of Drumcode most consistent contributors, Bart Skils also knows his way around a melodic lead better than most. With this is in mind, it’s difficult to believe this is the first sighting we’ve had of the Dutchman’s productions on Truesoul.

‘My Rules’ was created during lockdown with the specific intent to brighten the lives of the techno faithful. Both compositions were inspired by the type of tracks Skils would typically use to build his sets during longer sessions, when tension-and-release dynamics are deployed with aplomb. The title track comprises a wiggly bassline running alongside a skilfully arranged vocal hook, while tiny flashes of melody amplify the atmosphere. ‘Cruising Waves’ is marked by a hypnotic groove and a meditative vocal loop before a ball-tearing industrial synth-line rips through the bottom end at regular intervals throughout the second half of the piece.
