This record focuses its lens on the source of African American defiance. It’s an expression of the anger that many young black African Americans harbor due to the unfair treatment of young blacks by the U.S. criminal justice system and the disparaging nature of office politics in mainstream America. For many black kids it’s at as if they have a better chance at climbing the ranks in the street world than they do at reaching the heights of mainstream society. The Verdict of the Trayvon Martin case has been interpreted by many as a clear reminder that people of all races and varying socio-economic backgrounds are not all viewed the same in the eyes of the law. The record asserts that if a man can walk free for the murder of an African American youth with no justifiable motive then everyone else should be prepared for war due to the failure of the criminal justice system to protect the innocent and provide justice for those who rightfully deserve it. Unfortunately, that verdict only reinforces the feeling of worthlessness in some black youth and bitter anger in others. When will we get fair treatment? This record is a reminder that the world is a more savage and brutal place than we might imagine. In the end self reliance, personal vigilance, and prudence are the only insurance policies for the protection and preservation of individual civil liberty.
