Hailing from Hertfordshire, England, Perc, aka Ali Wells, began his musical assault out of the Home Counties from a young age. Being in indie bands influenced by the likes of Ned’s Atomic Dustbin and Wonderstuff at the age of 13, Perc was a self-confessed indie kid until the age of 16. Awakened to the sounds of the burgeoning '90s rave scene by his older brother, Perc left the guitars behind and began DJ'ing -- he also bought his first drum machine (a Roland TR626) the day after his GCSE results. At 18, he left the southeast and began a course on sound engineering at Newcastle University, where he started to produce techno influenced by producers Carl Cox and Jeff Mills. Teaming up with a fellow student, he became part of DriveSpace, his first electronic outfit. Shortly after finishing his degree, he moved to London and began performing and recording under the name Perc.

In 2002, he released his debut single, “I Make Nuclear,” on the Easy Space label, as well as releasing a couple of 12”s on Premier Sounds in 2003. In 2004, he created his own label, Perc Trax, and between then and 2012 saw releases coming from the likes of Sawf, Truss, Forward Strategy Group, Ekoplekz, and Perc himself. Throughout the latter part of the 2000s, Perc Trax established itself as the dark and hypnotic purveyor of driving techno and deep tech grooves. Perc himself described his own sound as “Droney, industrial-tinged techno. A mixture of 4/4 and broken beat stuff,” and declared himself a fan of early industrial and post-punk, with Cabaret Voltaire and Throbbing Gristle being major influences.

In 2009, he released "Throb" on Ovum and "Submit" on CLR, but it was his 2010 release, "Monad V" on Stroboscopic Artefacts, that made techno aficionados sit up and take notice of his productions. A major draw on the European and world techno live circuit for fearless DJ sets and his live act, he released his debut album, Wicker & Steel, in 2011. The album fused occult and pagan mystery -- as well as '70s British horror films -- with punishing, chopped, and pounding drum-driven techno, and was described by Guardian scribe Tony Naylor as “a bleak audio montage of modern Britain.” It went on to be featured on many end-of-the-year best-of lists. The track “My Head Is Slowly Exploding” was remixed by Throbbing Gristle's Chris Carter and techno legends Ancient Methods. Such collaborations cemented Perc's status as one of the torch bearers for the future of modern techno.

Singles and EPs continued on Perc Trax, Sleaze Records, and Stroboscopic (a split 12" with Xhin) in 2012. In 2013, Perc collaborated with Adam X (aka Traversable Wormhole) under the name AX&P; an EP titled Ampere&Ohm was released on a label of the same name. Perc also released Spiker, the first of several collaborations with Truss, in addition to issuing an EP of his remixes of tracks by Einstürzende Neubauten, Interpretations. Perc's second full-length The Power & the Glory arrived in 2014, receiving much critical acclaim. Additional 12"s followed on Perc Trax and Stroboscopic, in addition to collaborations with Randomer, Passarella Death Squad, and further work with Truss and Adam X. Perc's third album, Bitter Music, arrived in 2017.

We are very excited to present to you Duplicity 035, featuring an hour of powerfully hypnotic and driving techno from Buenos Aires based @juan_trujillo!

Juan Trujillo is a Venezuelan producer living in Buenos Aires Argentina. Juan began his musical career at an early age, studying stringed instruments round 1990. Audio technician, sound session drummer and Drum Tech. He has worked with numerous bands over the years, adding to his resume studio recordings, Tour manager and stage manager of international punk bands. His foray into electronic music started alongside his training in 1999 where he was quickly influenced by the European movement of the time, which was already steeped in punk and rock, like Dave the Drummer, Chris Liberator, Lawrie Immersion, Mauro Picotto, The Advent, Massimo Cominotto, Joy Kitikonti and The Geezer, to name a few.

He started producing electronic music in early 2002 where he dabbled in genres such as House, Deep House, Techno and Acid techno. Today his productions are largely influenced by the sounds of Detroit and Berlin-based techno and has released on a plethora of reputable and worldwide labels such as: 43 Recordings, Achromatiq, Elektra, Translucent, Take More Music, Monocline, Achromatiq, Connective records, Solid Groove Records, Dead Cert Records, FORMAT, Shadow music Recordings, Black Brook Records, 7Teen Records, Oxytech, Sub Woofer Records, Brachial Kontakt, Groovytech Records.

Today Juan runs his own techno label Simplecoding Recordings which is based on supporting local talents in Argentina where he has set base. Juan also runs Simplecoding Podcast which is a show of exclusive web radio techno Fnoob techno (UK) and writes reviews for the famous brand Deathtechno.com (UK)

After being introduced to electronic music back in the early 90's in Los Angeles, a teenage David Flores was hooked. He started DJing across Southern California on the DIY warehouse, backyard, desert, and rave circuit. His style then was as varied as the local scene - a myriad of sounds ranging from house to acid to techno to hardcore. After a few years solely DJing, he began releasing original music under the monikers David F & Audio Injection, which landed him on labels such as Monoid, Stimulus, 4 Track & LA label Droid Recordings. His association with Droid Behavior began in 2003 as resident at the now defunct yet infamous and internationally acclaimed Interface event series alongside Drumcell and Raiz. He currently runs a new event series together with Drumcell and Oktaform named “Observe”.

In early 2011, he started the project Truncate to focus on the deeper, raw side of techno. His Truncate releases early on gained critical acclaim from world class underground talent such as Modeselektor, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Chris Liebing, Speedy J, DVS1, Luke Slater, Ben Sims, Josh Wink, Eats Everything, Joris Voorn, and many more. Since then, he has provided remixes for artists across the musical spectrum including Kink, Slam, Loco Dice, Ben Sims, Josh Wink, Ellen Alien, Miss Kittin, Carl Cox & Nicole Moudaber. He has also released original works on 50 Weapons, Ultramajic, Blueprint, Ei8ht, Figure and of course his own imprint Truncate. He has also collaborated with Jimmy Edgar, Chambray and most recently started a new project with Ben Sims as ‘Assailants’ which they’ve released on their own imprint ‘Obscurity Is Infinite’.

A rigorous international tour schedule has since followed, including stops and regular appearances at the most prestigious venues and events, including Berghain in Berlin, Fabric in London, Concrete in Paris, The Movement Festival in Detroit, Womb in Tokyo, Dimensions Festival in Croatia, Awakenings in Amsterdam, Output in New York, and many more.

With his heavy remix, production and touring schedule there is still no slowing down for David. He continues to shape an evolving sound and to champion the Los Angeles underground.
