2022 Mix pt. 1

Modūl mix 007 comes to us from the man, the myth, Ionz.  He's a fixture of the scene here in Jacksonville, and in the state of Florida to be perfectly honest.  He's graced the decks for us back at our first official Modūl event back in August 2021, but we've been getting down to his sets and original productions for a hot minute.  We're big fans of Ionz style on the decks and his tempo pushing can seriously get a room or festival moving at any hour.  Welcome to the mix Ionz.

Hello everyone I'm Ion Zide aka IONZ from Jacksonville, FL and I'm all about nasty bass lines and good beats. 

From a young age I grew up surrounded by music, my father was in a band that traveled all over the U.S., and he was also a guitar tech for earth, wind, and fire, and my mom listened to everything so that led me to love all style of music. 

Moving forward I got into hip hop, breaking, chopped up beats and digital sounds and that stuck till one night in high school I was at an all ages club and the dj was playing techno, like speed racer techno lol and I was like what's this. then a few weeks later someone said something about an after hours place that stayed open till morning, that's where I found house music. I ended up meeting and hanging with the DJ’s and it really drew me in. once I got tables I went to work, starting out with hip hop instrumentals, trip hop, and down tempo I learned how to beat match and cut, but when hanging out at after parties everyone wanted something more upbeat, that's where I hit them with the drum and bass haha. eventually I got into prog and new school UK breaks and dark prog house as a dj, but was also into experimental and IDM. now i play deep dubs, halftime, drum & bass, and tech house never steering away from them dark nasty bass lines. 

After many years I am happy to have played so many great shows and festivals and wouldn’t trade it for the world. I love music and I love playing music. I hope you enjoy the mix and thank you for letting me be apart of this.

ION ZIDE, A florida dj/ producer residing in jacksonville is not new to the electronic scene. Getting his first taste back in the early nineties he found his love for the music. Once meeting and getting to know the dj’s in the club scene he found something that he would never let go of. After a while and getting his collection and style together he started playing after parties then on to the local clubs and nearby cities. ION ZIDE was better known in his early years for playing drum and bass, progressive breaks and house music, loving all styles  across the board. Playing shows along side renowned artists including DJTHREE, DAVE CANNALTE, DIESLE BOY, ICEY, GENERAL MIDI, LTJ BUKEM, ST. PIERE, SANDY, MONK, GEORGE ACOSTA, KOMA & BONES, WAVEWHORE, and a few others, his passion grew even more. After a few years he found himself seeing the production side of electronic music, and has now been on labels such as, ECCORECORDINGS, MUTISM, and HEAVYWEIGHT. As humbling as he is in the electronic scene this veteran dj can get a party going no matter the occasion, and will never disappoint the dance floor.
