Image is one of my acrylic paintings, done a few years after the pandemic, a second set to refresh the paintings I did immediately into the pandemic - rushed, ungrounded.

What better way to start than Muladhara, root, so, found some bass heavy things and played around today for an hour of heavy thumpy stuff.

Root Chakra (Bass House) Mix - Muladhara

The sacral area suggests water, depth, creation, so here's a bit of a deep house trip.  I tried a few things here and there, some successful, some not.  Such is the creative and practice process.

Sacral Chakra (Deep House) Mix

A little bit disco, a little bit retro.  

With a surprise at the end.

Solar Plexus Chakra (Retro Random) Mix

When I think of Anahata I see green, and think organic house.  Went a bit longer than an hour on this because I wanted to fit everything in and organic songs do need to breathe a bit.

Throat Chakra (Vocal House) Mix

Another of my favorite genres is future house, since it's so synthy, bassy, and generally over the top.  I love the little perc line prevalent in DnB, and songs that have it.

A smiiiiidge of a mishap with Say Nothing (feat. MAY-A), but that's live mixing for ya.

Third Eye Chakra (Future House) Mix

A bit of everything here, mostly dancey electropop.  The largest genre I tend to absorb.  

Painting is my interpretation of Sahasraha, acrylic mixed media.

Crown Chakra (Electropop And Dance) Mix

Bismuth (Tech House)

My favorite mineral is labradorite, since from afar it may be a bit gray and dull looking, but in the right light sparks of iridescence and color show through.  This is a piece with a warm violet flash, which is more rare than the usual blue.

I did a music trawl after my gig this weekend and found some wonderful new deep house that I mixed spontaneously tonight.  Hope you enjoy!

Violet Labradorite (Deep House) Mix

Free mixing today after a busy day at work.  Looked at a rock.  Felt organicky.  

Good background and driving music, pretty lush, picked more of the lighter things and then closed with a space-themed more melodic house track.

Serpentine (Organic House) Mix

A three hour continuous mix challenging myself to build energy over the course of a night, with a small deep house duo of songs to close out the energy.

It’s a bit slower than my usual - 119-121 - for chiller nights or a nice walk or jog 

More serious than the ugly tie party mix, so feel free to throw it on as background music for your next party.

Garnet (Vocal To Bass House) Party Mix (3 hrs)

Distilled my favorites into one place and made this wonderful showcase of my synthy vocal future side, also very on the fly mixing.

Starts definitely NOT vocal, but trust - had to get my gamer jollies off with a delightful discovery harkening to my RPG roots

Super proud of this one.

Kunzite (Trupr's Top Tracks of Vocal Deep House) Mix

Tons of fun.  Beatport's sale always gets me and this was my birthday month so I made a set I would have played after my ex left (pre-pandemic).

Some really cool tracks in here.  I also tried a few experiments with -reverse- please forgive me, but I was learning a few tricks from Stefan Ways and Joseph Mattachine and gave it a whirl.

Glass Heart (Breakup Empowering Vocal House) Mix

Couldn't sleep, so made a mix.  Heavier choices from my organic collection, ends on a nice uplifting tone.

Prehnite (Heavy Organic Beats) Mix

I was recently challenged to get a bit more gritty as a lot of my mixes showcase dancy music, since that's my forte.  Using my existing library I imagined what I'd do if I had a direct support or even what I'd 'headline' if I was later in the night.

When I go hard it's future, bass, synth, weird sounds, mechanical metal, grit, but still trying to find moments of melody and instrumentation.

Hope you enjoy this, though I really am researching psytrance/techno to try to really push my comfort, for the person challenging me to find a more driving and heavy beat.

Apologies there is one little syncing mishap partway through.

Late Night Future House Mix

Since my last podcast-upload was more heavy than my usual here's a little hour long messing around with some newer Deep House mixed in from the past months.

Hackmanite possesses a reversible tenebrescence, which is when it glows under UV and blacklights, and returns to a purple color.  Moody, deep violet, just like me and my usual music loves, but with a hidden fire.

Hackmanite (Deep House) Mix

I got to play a bit of this mix at Beacon prior to the Bad Asstronauts Beacon Takeover.  It's a bit of a fun opener mixing some of my favorite genres, deep vocal and afro house, with a bunch of fun discoveries.  Particular favorites are Weightless, Hypnotized, and Made for Me.

I chose the music to be uplifting and build to an absolute anthem of a song, Heart Like Mine.  We all need some hope and uplifting right now.

Bad Asstronauts Deep House Podcast - 4.07.2025

A little bit of deep house mixing on the fly at my good friend Electrofi’s basement setup on our camp speakers.  Mixing some new finds with a lot of classics (to me!) that I hadn’t played in a while, or had used at live sets and kept out of my more recent mixes.

Definitely some creative transitions.  I really appreciated the opportunity to mix on a bigger system for two hours.  Wishing everyone a healthy and inclusive, happy fourth day of July in this year of 2025.
