Sound Metaphors podcast 01 – Androo

As co-founder of the Music From Memory label, UK born but Berlin based Jamie Tiller has encouraged us all to take time out, go slow and get lost in some essential Balearic, neo-classical and minimalist works by legends old and new. As well as working with celebrated Italian composer Gigi Masin, the label has put out the work of ambient super group Gaussian Curve and Joan Biblioni amongst others. The next project for these obscure gem lovers is a timely re-issue of UK band The System and as such Tiller and co are doing fine work as historical treasure hunters. 

Jamie —also part of the Red Light Records team— DJs all round Europe and as such has put together a mix for our series that shows where he is at. It proves him to be a lover of colourful and harmonious melody, of beachy guitar licks and sun kissed sounds that bounce along on a buoyant groove. Flashes of 80s sass, pumping euro disco and slick, classic sounding house are all part of the most pleasing puzzle.

Trushmix 115: Castro & Nemo

Butter Mix 73 is here via Berlin! Out there wonky zonky house and percussive selections with an 80s twist by Castro & Nemo. The two have made a bit of name for themselves with their recently founded, expertly picked record shop https://soundcloud.com/sound-metaphors becoming a staple diggin' spot for all types of DJs and music lovers. The beautifully designed shop based in Kreuzberg that also boasts a dope sound system operates two labels, one under the same name that has put out dance floor orientated releases and reissues by DJ Dove and DJ Fettburger to name a few + the mysterious H.A.N.D. sub-label. Be sure to stop by the shop or one of their parties if passing by Berlin!
