In the short time I've been in his presence I have been given countless facts, stories and been spread a wide variety of the musical encyclopedia to which of chapter's I didn't even know existed. Brian is a man who lives and breaths this industry, from digging in the furthest crates in the vast corners of the world reissuing never before seen or forgotten gems on his Midnight Drive, or more noticeably to finding some of the most interesting new talents coming up via Going Good. 
On top of all this he's an excellent DJ, a skill which has seen him play worldwide alongside underground greats like DJ Sotofett and Hashman Deejay to name a few. For his Off The Record Brian brings us on deep dive of various club sounds in house, disco and more. Telephones is a renowned DJ for his free-spirited curve ball-mix of ranging from Balearic tutti-frutti, proto-house and percussion workouts to cosmic techno, discokraut-gymnastics and outer worldly explorations.

A firm believer in quality over quantity, Telephones has released a sparse but highly sought-after discography on acclaimed underground labels like Running Back, Sex Tags UFO, Acido, Love On The Rocks, Klasse Wrecks and Full Pupp. As well as production work and remixes for legends like José Padilla, Joan Bibiloni and Vangelis Katsoulis, to mention some. Starting with primitive PC software and DJing in the late 90s, he has since equally focused on production and DJing, now with more than 20 years of experience behind decks and knobs. In 2016 releasing his debut album, "Vibe Telemetry" on Running Back, taking his eclecticism and sound one step further, expanding the palette with influences from early Norwegian club-roots, Ambient House, NY House and Disco, 90s UK Balearic, Italo House, Underground Resistance and Detroit Techno.

The recent years has taken Telephones across the globe with frequent tours in Asia, Australia and the Americas, playing in over 35 different countries and as diverse locations as Sao Paulo, Taipei, New York, Mexico City, Hanoi, Tokyo and Melbourne, as well as frequently laying it down on his Berlin/EU home-turf at some of the best underground clubs, such as Berghain/Panorama Bar, Bassiani, Corsica Studios, Griessmuehle, Jaeger and festivals like Love International, Dimensions, Pitch Music and Arts, The Garden and Bahidora.

I honestly can’t believe we’ve made it to number 20, obviously, you’re all still listening for some weird reason, I hope its the same reason I’m still putting out the mixes. 

it fills me with immense joy to bring you number twenty by way of DJ Regret aka Unfettered aka captain jack sparrow aka the dreadlocked dreidel aka Scott Levy not reddy. This bloke has been one of the driving forces in my musical life, especially in the birth of the concept of this whole series. He has delivered a beautiful journey just shy of 4 hours. As mentioned before Scott has been a musical compass for me for last 15 years, consistently being ahead of curve, actually he creates the curves every year his set from Inner Varnika will be echoed throughout the year through every other Melbourne DJ and spotify enthusiast. Mimicked but never reproduced. Consistently adding his beautiful compositions to the ‘Trushmix’ series by our burger brethren.

I've also been throwing parties with him for the past 10 years, we started the now-defunct Out of Focus (rip) together, he started Sound of Thought (rip) and then we went on to start Inner Varnika, I’m very happy to of shared my journey with Scott and I’m not actually sure I’d be here without him, he has and always will keep me grounded. So after months of hassling he finally shot me something, a recording from a house party some weeks ago, basic setup, a huge vibe that builds into the evening/morning recording on a shitty mixer the peaks on a few songs so please bare with it. 

On that note, turn your brightness all the way down and grab a cold beverage from the fridge and enjoy the trip!
