Pulse Records is back with its third VA compilation, a curated selection of eight tracks that explore and expand upon the nuances of contemporary club music. This release brings together diverse voices within techno, each offering a distinct take on Pulse’s vision of the modern club sound.

Building on the atmospheric and thematic depth of previous releases, this compilation ventures into hypnotic rhythms, gritty textures, and evocative soundscapes that capture the essence of late-night environments. Ranging from pulsating techno to shadowy electro, each track contributes to a narrative of introspection and intensity, crafting an immersive experience that’s as suited to solitary listening as it is to the dancefloor.

Rather than seeking to redefine boundaries, Pulse Records offers a personal take on the genre, presenting this compilation as a resonant statement on club culture today. Each artist brings their own interpretation, converging to create a cohesive and compelling journey through the underground, where music and movement intertwine in a shared exploration of sound.

Trevor Linde - More Vitamins (Pulse Records)

It is a pleasure to have gifted Switzerland based artist @timnah-sommerfeldt with us for the 26th episode of our Herbarium mix series! 🌱
She composed a trippy journey through ambient, dnb and grey area - a really deep and introspective ride. She created a very coherent story around her choice of plant, the European beech. 

Here's a little backstory by TImnah about her choice:
"I chose the native, beautiful European beech (Fagus sylvatica) because it serves as an important point of reference for me during my mushroom walks in the forest. Among all the trees there, it is especially the beech that always guides me.
A large mushroom community lives in symbiosis with this impressive tree. It's fascinating to observe how this natural cycle begins anew each year—from summer into winter.

~ The coexistence of the beech with fungi begins when the delicate root of a beech seedling comes into contact with the soil and the mycorrhizal fungi living within it. It only ends long after the tree's death, when the dead beech wood is completely decomposed. ~

My mix was recorded after a snowy, cold November day in the forest and is joyfully dedicated to the European beech, which gifted me a delicious dinner 🍄‍🟫🦪🌳🤍"

About Timnah
Timnah lives, works and feeds the cats in the Northwestern extremities of Switzerland. Brought up in her parents’ jazz clubs and deeply influenced by her brother’s love for dub and soundsystem culture, she started DJing just after the massively feared Millenium Bug had threatened to offset our relation to time and space. Dedicated to drawing her own map of late 20th century sonic landscapes, she spent the early 2000s exploring 90s electronics including breakbeat, triphop, ambient techno, drum&bass, house and jungle. After a short but sweet excursion into producing in the early 2010s, Timnah dedicated herself fully to spinning the wheels and transversing genres, gravitating towards her current signature sound that spans immersive sound baths and intergalactic carpet rides in half-time. Timnah is a member of Amenthia Recordings and a recent addition to the A Walking Contradiction Collective.

Herbarium No 26 - Timnah - Fagus Sylvatica

Next up in our mix series is Shoal, a Dutch producer and DJ who recently relocated to Prague. Known for his hypnotic, emotionally layered sound, Shoal crafts deep, transportive journeys through trippy textures, modular synthesizers, and rolling rhythms. A core member of the ISOTOOP collective, he’s performed at leading underground spots like De School, Tresor, and Ratherlost. His releases on labels like Tikita, Harmony Recordings, Monument, our own Ute.Rec, and most recently Animalia, continue to expand and refine his unique sonic voice within the scene.

In this mix, Shoal delivers a 1.5-hour live set full of acid-dripping techno, spacey atmospheres, and heads-down minimalism. It’s a slow-burning, carefully building mix that captures the raw live sounds and subtle depth that define his sound. A live-set working just as much the mind as the body.

London-based artist Sybil is a true storyteller behind the decks, celebrated in equal measure for her cinematic take on techno as she is for crafting deep ambient journeys that soothe the soul. Whether for the dancefloor or for introspective listening, her selections are always guided by a distinct emotional depth, weaving intricate sonics with a healthy dose of psychedelia for good measure. 

Exploring the inspiration for this flawless session, Sybil describes it as:

“I’ve dived deep into the ocean for this mix, a wave through time, flowing between psychedelia of the 70s, 90s, present-day and beyond. A modern take on 90s chillout mix CDs, a meditation on the ocean, a sun-soaked holographic daydream by the sea ~~~”
