Nelly Furtado - Tap Dancing (trxstxssx Edit)

A NEW CHAT, IS A PERSON paints the surrealism of modern connection and how strangers become confessions, usernames become voices, and DMs turn into lifelines. It’s built on the raw static of online friendships, niche communities, and the strange comfort of never meeting someone who knows you better than your family does.

The production is unfiltered and frayed, a controlled implosion of saturated noise, clipped samples, and haunting melodies that sound like half-lost voice notes. The song isn’t trying to impress but rather trying to feel like a connection to an unsafe network. It’s layered with ghost tones, compulsive glitches, and compressed snares that took months to perfect (and still feel broken).

“I miss complex musical pieces that made me wonder how it was composed and put together. The stuff that makes an engineer run for the door. Oversaturated and blown out. I spent probably 2 months looking for the specific snare compression to use. It’s a mess. But it’s my mess.”

A NEW CHAT, IS A PERSON is a fragmented love letter to the way we connect now and how vulnerable, parasocial, chaotic, and alive it can all be. It doesn’t sand down the weirdness or clean up the pain. It lets it hum through the wires.

This mini-EP is filled with a lot of strange things. Subtle little details and sounds I've collected since January this year. They include field recordings of machinery, indie game samples, and even spoken word poetry that I converted into pads.
I knew this was different. And I knew it would not fit with my current idea of my next project. So, I decided to put them out as a mini-EP because I knew they had to exist.

As for the pipe dreams and the dreams we dream, that's normal. Don't beat yourself up too much. Failure is ok. Not feeling like yourself happens, too.
Being human is a complex condition.

This is short, simple, and present. More bottled up, more deprived.
This EP defines the things I don't understand about music and music people. The rage, gatekeeps, freaks, geeks, geniuses, and everything that comes along with that. Everything is right here - in the sound of trxstxssx.

The music and sample choices were heavily influenced by George Clanton, Drab Majesty, Tor Lundvall & Aphex Twin.
