As a regular fixture at the world's top clubs and festivals, Glasgow born producer and DJ Gary Beck has long been established as a primary figure in techno.

Known and respected for his unique sound, he has gained support from the best names in the business and released music on some of the genre's leading labels, institutions such as Drumcode, Cocoon and Saved as well as his own BEK Audio imprint.

Since his emergence onto the scene in 2007, Beck has accumulated an impressive list of achievements. Highlights include a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix and a Boiler Room session, as well as numerous collaborations with similarly exceptional talents such as Green Velvet, Mark Broom and Speedy J. 2012 saw the release of his seminal debut album 'Bring a Friend' on the legendary Soma Records label.

The last few years have seen Gary Beck's career trajectory continue to soar, with shows at renowned clubs such as Womb Tokyo, Fabric London, Awakenings, Output NYC, and Timewarp, to name a few. In addition to a packed performance schedule, Beck spends time as head of BEK Audio, an imprint which has quickly become one of the most revered techno labels on the scene.

Tommy and BALANS head honcho Darko Esser have history together, with Tommy releasing on his Wolfskuil imprint and them remixing each other's tunes. Mr Four Seven has been making waves with his uncompromising releases, resulting in the epic debutalbum that is 'Primate'. His relentless, dynamic and raw livesets have made him many fans worldwide. As always, we asked him a couple of questions prior to his gig next week:

01.What is you relationship with Balans?

I consider Darko Esser a good friend, we've worked together in the past and we continue to support each other.

02.What do you do to try and stay in balance? Any tips & secrets you would like to share with us night folks?

I've found eating a vegan diet and running during the week helps balance the crazy weekends.

03.About the podcast, can you tell us the story behind the mix?

It's pretty much a full on dancefloor mix, recorded fresh after the weekend.

04.What gear did you use to make the Balans podcast?

Traktor, Macbook Pro, 2 x A&H 1D Controllers, 92 A&H Mixer, alcohol.

05.What do you have in store for us (gigs/releases) the coming months?

This weekend is all about Holland. Friday for the Balans party in Amsterdam with Shifted who is also my neighbour here in Berlin so it's always a laugh.  Saturday I'll be with Sandwell District at 'Have A Nice Day Festival' and then of course the after party. 

Release wise, my remix for Truss on Sigha's Our Circula Sound label is out now on wax and soon on digital. The remix features as the penultimate track on the mix.

EPM Podcast 135 comes from DJ and producer DJ Rush. DJ Rush's hard techno sets are legendary from his birthplace of Chicago to his adopted home of Berlin. A 6’6” self-styled techno freak, the producer of such monsters as ‘Freaks on Hubbard’ and ‘Get On Up’ frequently mixes techno with unrestrained energy and a cheeky smile. His tough-jacking party vision shines through in this energised mix that whips up the likes of Jack Frost, Kyle Geiger, S-File, Tenzella, Pfirter, Goncalo M, Linken Ray, Secluded and of course all the while peppered with Rush’s own raw drum machine funk. 

DJ Rush draws on his varied taste in music from contemporary Brazilian Jazz, and rare disco to The Beatles to take you on a tour of the deep side of reality, mind and soul through his vision of rhythmic percussive style. Rush gives recordings physical and mind-puzzling energy. The 6'6" giants' open-minded attitude to life is: Take me for what I am or don't take me at all. Born in Chicago (USA), he grew up on the South Side and started to party at a very young age, immediately picking up on the fever of the music. He would attend clubs like The Ringzone, Playground, The Candystore and The Music Box. 

Before he began playing gigs in Chicago, he started making tracks in his bedroom with his friends' sinsonic drums. In Rush’s own words, "It's always important and interesting to make music according to your feelings and experiences", which is exactly what he does every time. 

Continuing to fly the flag for his high intensity, hard jacking style his Kne’ Deep label is fast approaching its 100th release. The new album Kne' Deep Compilation Vol 1. is out now.
