UK Garage is hot again, isn't it? for the past 3 years or so there's been this explosion of bringing the 2-step sound back, and it's now all over the place now. That's cool and all, but you know what it's missing: dubstep. lol

A bunch of months ago I had this idea in my head that it would be cool to have some kind of four on the floor tune with garage-y rhythm, but with tearout sound design. I didn't see anybody doing that so I had to do it to em.
This combination is already a bit off kilter anyway so I decided to keep it simple and not go too extreme on the sparkly harmony bullshit. This is a Proper dance chune fr.

From August 10th to August 11th, 2024, over 1,000 creatives woke up early, clocked out of work, gathered with friends, and prepared for the 24-hour challenge to come. As submissions roll in, the day passes in the blink of an eye. Musicians put their final touches on their songs, passing around the master file for one final polish from all collaborators. Visual artists eagerly await for the few final minutes of their render to pass with no issues. All participants take one big, deep breath as they upload their files and hit "Submit". Out of 562 music submissions and 71 art submissions, 45 shining tracks and one cover design were selected and organized with care into one final album. It captures a glimpse of the evolving creativity not just of our community, but of creatives everywhere.

First and foremost, All Nighter is about joy; the payoff is well worth it, but the purpose is in the process. It's so much more than making a song or cover art with a friend—it's human connection. It's learning how to push yourself beyond your creative limits. It's taking pride in your hard work. It's meeting new people who happen to love the same musicians and artists as you. Creating what makes you happy is a joy that keeps the wheels of creativity turning; we all owe it to ourselves to love what we make, and make what we love.

All proceeds from All Nighter, Vol. 9 will be donated to the National Alliance for Eating Disorders, a charity that provides referrals, education, and support to individuals experiencing eating disorders and their loved ones.

In a similar vein to my previous EP, the first song is always a big statement and some kind of "flex track" to showcase everything I have going on. After some jazz-fusion inspired shenanigans in the previous project, now it's time for an entire orchestra. You know, just because. I was inspired by a performance I saw of my city's orchestra playing the second Shéhérazade by Ravel, and that inspired me deeply to make an orchestral arrangement. Like almost everything about this EP, I ended up changing most of the drop if not all of it, and now it actually sounds great. All in all I'm very happy I'm even able to achieve this. Special thanks to Inverted Silence for the invaluable help shaping the orchestra's sounds.

Back at Asahi Crew with a doozy one! I was very able to meet Hylen in person last year, when he attended one of the shows I played in Tokyo. We are both fans of each other, so the thought of collabing came pretty naturally. As most of you are aware, I've barely collabed with people before (KAIFU being the big exception), so I'm excited that going forward I will be releasing a collection of tracks that I've been working on alongside some of my friends. Super excited for it!

This song was a blast to do, I really felt like neither of the two had any limits or any restraint when it came to the ideas we decided to present here. It feelt very liberating! but somehow I think it all comes together, and a banger emerged from it. I hope you guys like it!
