Time

I am separated from music. When I start composing, I think about the development and layering of tones that will resonate with people. However, when I finish, the music becomes unrelated to my will. "The joy of composing lies in the betrayal of the unconscious."

My tribute to Duane Eddy who just passed away this week at the age of 86. It was recorded on an old Tascam 8 tracks deck with just guitars and an Alesis drum machine. The low (dropped D ) sounding guitar is just a keyboard sample..the rest is my usual old strat that sounds nothing like Duane. I recall listening to him as a youth in the early 60s and buying his LP that I played on one of those little turntables with the speaker built into the lid. Free download if you want. Its a very temporary post as I will delete it in a few days. Cheers.

Born from the shores of the mediteranean, Carmentran channels the age-old myths of Provence and showcases the enduring allure of Carnival, a festive and mystical time when identities are transformed.
The duo ventured into the folklore of Murs, a village nestled in the picturesque Luberon region.
During a drunken journey , amidst the colorful costumes and exuberant dances, they captured snapshots of this whimsy and communal celebration, an atmosphere morphing into abstraction.

Beyond mere imagery, the EP sought to tale the story of the so-called Carmentran, a wicker man upon which villagers lay their burdens and suffering from the past year.
Its final burning is then interpreted as a collective purification, allowing people to rid themselves of their concerns.

From the still incandescent log, a souvenir can be reconstructed.
It is sometimes possible to feel spiritual entities through the sound spectrum.

There is no singer in the room, but a transmitter playing voices of many beings from different ages.
During this absence, heavily fuzzed guitars, dusty pads and flickering basslines enter into a quietly sharp communication.
Overhead, symphonies of enchantment and distant flutes mingle with the soft murmur of the wind.

We remember the boy who jumped over the flames
We reminisce the disguises and rituals
We recall the copper horn singing with the drums
