narration: I imagine some human ancestor sitting in the mouth of the cave, still awed by printing his ochre hand on the cave wall - she or he or they .....such a puzzeling, bewildering act:  the creation of identity and the affirmation of connection simultaneously .... Identification, after all, is a younger sibling to alienation ;-)
