As was their wont after a long summer's day of play, several of the neighborhood children would take the shortcut through Barber Woods, passing the old mansion, and wave to the smiling lady, dressed-in-white at the top window, who always seemed to be there watching as they passed.

A continuation of spooky stories from the woods, and this I believe, originated in England, but the one I remember as a child, took place in upstate New York.
The ending still gives me the creeps. Worth looking up! 

The cats, slowed down by their burden, could not match his speed, but just as he was leaving the thick woods for the open country beyond, one of them screeched in a loud, clear and almost human voice, " Mr. Williams, oh Mr. Williams, when you get home, tell Molly Myers that she can come home now. This song was a bit of an experiment. While the tune is kind of poppy and upbeat, the lyrics are a little ambiguous. I had some fun trying to figure out the harmonies. A bit of a hot mess, but I am happy with it. I hope you enjoy!

I would like to introduce my son Joseph, who indulged his dad and did a fabulous job of filling out the end of this short tune with some wonderful guitar soloing on the outro. Even though he has only been playing for a few years, he is miles ahead of where I was at his age as a musician. I couldn't be prouder, and I know that my dad is looking down and smiling, as he played piano and wrote music. I hope this is the first of many!

This tune started with the random, goofy title. I came up with the basic music and melody, then left it for a while because it didn't turn out well. I gave it another try, and this is the finished song. It's definitely a potluck one, filled with lyrics that are more about cadence than making sense. I hope you enjoy!

A Sound At Night

We suddenly lost our brother and my twin, Timothy, last weekend. 
Tim was born with developmental issues, and I was his legal guardian. We were very close and had that "twin" connection. He was also a wonderful soul.  As we struggle to make arrangements and process this, after a few days in a complete fog, I decided to post this song I had pending in his honor. It was not written for him, but some of the sentiments expressed here are universal and seemed fitting. Originally, I was going to say I was proud of the bridge, but now I appreciate you listening, and I hope you enjoy it.
