The Sound of New York City is proud to present “Oh My Lord”, the first original single by label head and seasoned DJ/producer Danilo Braca, aka danyb. Inspired by the manic energy of early rock n’ roll pioneers, Oh My Lord strips the 50s sound down to its basic ingredients of vocals, drums and bass, with a nod to the minimalist sampling approach of Detroit and Chicago. Featuring the saxophone stylings of Troy Mobiuscollective, Oh My Lord comes with six exclusive remixes by a dream team of artists including DJ Spinna, DJ Nature, The Revenge, Ashley Beedle, DJ Rocca and Radius Etc. Available in digital format on 22 February and limited vinyl pressing.

Synth & Soda return with an unabashedly Italo, hold-no-vocoder motorik banger that pays tribute to the duo’s love for the filtery goodness of analog synths. Goes from Moroder in the studio with Kraftwerk to a brash tropical percussion breakdown that will leave any dance floor sweating and reaching for more. Danilo Braca’s remix slows things down to a darker mid-tempo bounce, the soaring synths of the original replaced by sparse acid lines, bleeps and woody drum machines.

Singer, DJ and producer SuperJaimie takes things deep and mellow into dream house territory with her new single Xpress Yourself, with layers upon layers of evolving pads, pulsating arpeggios and distant guitars flying by like clouds slowly dissolving in the Sunday morning sky. SuperJaimie's powerful vocals emerge from the misty haze with a message of expression and of love, in a spacious mix that calls for dancers to get lost in it. The cast of collaborators includes Mario Gentili on keys, Alvise Marino on guitar and label head Danilo Braca on production / mixing / mastering duties.

Homage to Jean S is a musical tribute to American actress and civil rights activist Jean Seberg.
Growing up in France fascinated by classic Hollywood stars and heroines of the French "Nouvelle Vague", SuperJaimie always held a special place in her heart for the movie “Breathless”. After learning more about the life and tragic destiny of the lead actress Jean Seberg, as well as her brave and determined fight against inequalities in America, she was inspired to create a song in her honor, reflecting the sadness of her story and her dedication to a cause that is still relevant today.
Homage to Jean S is all soft and dreamy Rhodes chords, a smoky trumpet in the distance and SuperJaimie’s longing vocals all over a cozy bed of barely-there congas and drums, transporting the listener to a place far away in the clouds. —————————

“The Sound of New York City® is a project born from the idea of its founder back in 2006 to encourage the rediscovery of the Disco Sound, including Soul – Funk – House, while at the same time make use of his extensive vinyl collection, much of which was gathered from underground sources, dating back to 1975.

In December 2009 the initial project was transformed into a live, 24/7 web radio station:
TSoNYC™ The Sound of New York City™ . The station’s programming is based on the history of New York’s clubs like “Paradise Garage” and “The Loft”, with their protagonists Larry Levan and David Mancuso, as well as Detroit and Chicago with “The Warehouse” and “The Gallery”, where Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy spread their style. The TSoNYC sound includes Nu-Disco and Deep House, showcasing DJ contemporaries such as Moodymann, Theo Parrish, LTJ experience, and others who are now contributing to the rediscovery of this immortal music.

The growing interest for this genre of music is being demonstrated as our site last year reached more than 14 thousand visitors, with tremendous audiences tuning not only within the USA and Canada, but also in Germany, Greece, Japan, Russia, France, Poland, England and Italy as well.
