‘Alacasa’, the result of months of work, sees Reimer delving into his unique world of delicate drum patterns, kaleidoscopic synths, 4/4 beats and breaks, acid-tinged melodies, ghostly pads…blah blah blah… Kettel has presented us with all of these things before but never with such immaculate care and attention to detail, production and pacing. He has never sounded better and fresher than this.

The EP includes a dreamy and evocative remix from Swedish hero Rolando Simmons, pure bliss to get lost in.  No more words are needed, you know what to do.

[AF008] KETTEL 'ALACASA EP' (w/ ROLANDO SIMMONS REMIX) [2017]

Brendan Dougherty’s LP Economy and Failure is a work stemming from two tumultuous years for the artist: births, deaths and other big changes. The music was made in hotel rooms, airports, cafes and various studios using a basic setup of laptop and headphones. In contrast to Dougherty’s 2016 LP Sensate (Entr’acte), which used heavy synth patterns to create jittering rhythmic pulses without drum sounds, Economy and Failure sees the drums return on longer arrangements that bear some resemblance to techno. These tracks are interspersed with shorter études in texture and pulse. The resulting pattern heightens the tension between minimalism and emotional depth, making Economy and Failure a peculiar and poetic piece—and "Perfecter" is a perfect example of these qualities.

Born in Trondheim, Norway, Stian Gjevik is a rarity amongst electronic music producers. Possibly the most interesting musician representing the braindance and IDM sounds of today, EOD’s productions have landed on labels like WéMè Records, sleepers, cpu, 030303 and Aphex Twin’s highly respected Rephlex. Dropping on bbbbbb last year, his ‘Swurlk EP’ sold out within a month and received support from Aphex Twin, Bicep, Bjarki, Nina Kraviz and many more.  
 “It's the album I've wanted to do since I started making music - feels like a dream come true. Inspired by what got me into electronic music in the first place; jungle and early ‘00s Warp/Rephlex "drill & bass"-type stuff, but shifted through my own EOD-style lens.
