HARD ON THE BLVD

I saw a man with a gun in his hand
He was walkin’ pretty fast then he ran
Please come quick I heard somebody scream
They killed my old man they murdered his dream
Crowd of people watchin’ outside
Nobody seen nothin’ somebody else cried
He’s just another number on a card
Another man gone down hard on the blvd.

They brought him in on another charge
They found the dead man’s credit cards
Lawyer stood up said there’s somethin’ wrong
This man’s too crazy to know what he’s done
Judge walked in said it’s plain to see
This man is not guilty by insanity
18 months in a mental ward
Tossed back out hard on the blvd.

I saw a man with a joint in his hand 
Cops busted in and threw him in the can
Lawyer said I need my money right away
Judge walked in said you gotta pay
Election time’s coming the wheels need grease
Another drug conviction for the press release
10 long years in the prison yard
Another man gone down hard on the blvd.

So tell me, what kind of justice is this
Killers run loose with a slap on the wrist
Family man’s busted for smokin’ a little pot
They slam him in jail take everything he’s got
Politicians claim they’re cleanin’ up the streets
Makin’ the world safer for you and me
So keep your back to the wall don’t let down your guard
Another life lesson learned hard on the blvd.
