I could type on for hours about the respect and admiration that is shared between myself and Caspa. We've grown as friends, and as individuals and through our entire relationship, there was always a general theme that kept showing up in our chats. It was genuine belief in the other party. Having someone in your corner who believes in you is invaluable, and that's why he and I have latched on so tightly to our friendship. 

But enough gushy stuff (lol) lets highlight this freak of a DJ real quick. DJ Caspa is one of the most highly respected Underground DJs. Full Stop. The guys a freakin legend, but that title didn't come easy, and it definitely wasn't bought through an algorithm. Since the late 80's early 90's, Caspa has been a cornerstone for the house community. His respect in the scene was earned from constant support of other artists (big inspiration for me!) and always pushing the new guys who deserved the recognition. Without Caspa, there would have never been a Selected Timbres series, and I'm not even sure I would be so heavily involved in the scene. So if you've ever received my support, you can give him a thank you too lol.

This mix has been in the works for over a year. We both knew there was going to be a guest mix from Caspa, but (as always) he wanted me to start this up on my own with my own guests that I've got in my back pocket. BUT.. here we are :) one year later and DJ Caspa is lucky number 13 in the series!

A certified connoisseur of that underground sound but beautifully humble with it, Ricardo is one of my favourite selectors with a serious amount of knowledge and magnificent collection of tunes from past and present. 

Ricardo started mixing in North-West London in 1996, mainly on a UK Garage tip, but also some Drum ‘n’ Bass & commercial house. He got his first nice break as a DJ in the late 90s landing a slot playing regularly at the legendary Gass Club, London.

Around the same time, he discovered Soulful & Deep US House/Garage, mainly through a great night by Bobby & Steve called “Garage City”. So from around 2001 it was all about Soulful/Deep House & US Garage for Ricardo, but also picking up on those mid 90s gems that he had missed out on.

Now you can catch Ricardo spinning the finest underground cuts on "Da Rhythm Sessions". His weekly radio show on D3EP Radio Network.

When we first started the label we thought about doing a podcast series from the get-go. We put that idea on hold so we could focus on the releases first. We've already had a short run of Gents & Dandy's On Air which was tied to our previous distributor, so when we switched it was stopped, but we're back. We kick off the (new) series with none other than DJ Caspa (Rinse FM). Long time, early supporter of the label releases and a skillful dj & selecta.

The term "underground legend" is thrown around all too loosely these days, but in the case of Tunde Adams AKA DJ Caspa an exception needs to be made. As a youngster growing up in the East End of London in the early 90's Caspa received a first class musical education through the various record shops that he frequented and worked in, as well as participating in the early rave culture at the time.

Never satisfied with sitting back, Caspa's insatiable appetite for new music has seen him build a record collection of dizzying proportions but his true passion is clear when he is most comfortable, behind the turntables. Whereas most DJ's find solace in music production, Caspa has honed his mixing skills to an almost unparalleled level, an attribute which has seen him booked to play all over Europe and of course the UK.

I was recently asked by the un-mistaken duo :: FEEL MY BICEP :)))) to provide a mix for their blog feelmybicep.com  which as you can imagine was a real pleasure for me... I really don't need to say anything about Bicep as they are on top of the game and a favourite of many many people including me...

I decided to go with a bumpy deep mix which is a style I like to play among others, do remember you can catch me on RinseFm 106.8fm each and every sunday from the hours of 1-3GMT.
