On a beautiful sunny day in LA, @thenicholasmusic and @sanholobeats got together to work on something new. San recorded 30 minutes of The Nicholas’ casually improvised guitar noodling and turned it into a track. Pocket was born; a fusion between the acoustic and electronic.

This song was originally started as a tribute to my Uncle Pete, midway thru it then turned into a tribute for him and my cousin Alicia (his daughter). My family used to watch this Fleetwood Mac concert (from the Los Angeles Forum in 1982, broadcast on HBO in 1983) that my Dad and Uncle had taped by renting a VCR during a free preview weekend. We'd watch it at least once a year growing up. My Mom would tell me this was my Uncles favorite Fleetwood Mac song, which then became one of my Cousins favorite bands, and this one of her favorite songs also.

Beyond the Ｏｂｊｅｃｔ lies the unnameable. 

The Ｍｉｎｄ does not want to see another Ｂｏｄｙ as more than an Ｏｂｊｅｃｔ because the Ｍｉｎｄ itself is an Ｏｂｊｅｃｔ. For an Ｏｂｊｅｃｔ to confront that which is beyond itself would be disastrous. 

Yet every day we meet a complete Ｂｏｄｙ that is the Ｏｔｈｅｒ. I cannot see the Ｍｉｎｄ in another Ｂｏｄｙ because I only know of one Ｍｉｎｄ that is my own. 

And so I must reduce the Ｏｔｈｅｒ to an Ｏｂｊｅｃｔ. The Ｏｂｊｅｃｔ is a simulacrum of the Ｍｉｎｄ in myself. I must reduce that Ｏｔｈｅｒ Ｂｏｄｙ that is greater than my Ｍｉｎｄ to its own level of projected identities and stories and grievances and victimization. Otherwise my Ｍｉｎｄ would be frightened and useless. 

But what if I were to confront that Ｂｏｄｙ as another Ｂｏｄｙ. To be a Ｂｏｄｙ instead of being a Ｍｉｎｄ. To be a Ｂｏｄｙ instead of seeing through the eyes of a perceived Ｏｂｊｅｃｔ. 

When a Ｂｏｄｙ confronts a Ｂｏｄｙ there is no need to reduce the Ｏｔｈｅｒ to an Ｏｂｊｅｃｔ. The Ｏｔｈｅｒ is equal to the Ｂｏｄｙ. The Ｂｏｄｙ is a whole Being. 

How precious is this Ｂｏｄｙ and how little used. We need to be reminded that it is always there. We need to live in our Ｂｏｄｙ and not in our Ｍｉｎｄ. To always feel something on our skin. To hold and be held.

Sleepyhead brings us an incredibly strong and emotional EP full of deep house cuts and slow bass jams. Each track is haunted with his signature strings and pads which gives the release its cohesive nature. Featuring off-kilter, organic percussion, trap-influenced beats, huge low end, deep atmospheres and perfectly executed vocal samplings. This is not for the rave, more for a ritual.
