New Courses

Three weeks ago Jörg (@calaminus-music) published "Stomping Ground", a fantastic, grooving and rocking guitar track, which made me indeed stomping the ground. Many may know Jörg "just" as an excellent keyboard player, but he is a highly skilled guitarist too.
Shortly after the first listen to his track, I sat at my piano and I found I would have some interesting ideas to add to his guitar driven composition. So I've asked him for a collab and here it is, hope you enjoy it :)
The song got an extended intro, played with a layered Rhodes sound, in later parts I've added grand piano, again e-piano, vocal samples and even some more guitar (keys) for some rhythmical accents in the solo section in the middle of the song.

As in our previous collab, we both have created separate mixes based on the same material, setting the focus on different elements/instruments. You'll find Jörg's mix here:

This is my contribution to the current Four Chord Challenge of the Piano Soundboard (@the-piano-cloud). The chords to be repeated were Dm, Am, Gm and C.

I've improvised a bit on piano around these chords, playing to a constant drum pattern. Finally I've reworked the drums, added a bass line and a short synth solo. Hope you enjoy :)

The song was released in 1993 by Billy Joel. He wrote it as a lullaby for his daughter Alexa Ray in response to her question "Where do we go when we die?"

This is the teaser/preview of "I colori dell'amore", an album with 12 songs in Italian language, beautifully sung by my friend Paolo Pieraccini.
My part was composition, arrangement and production, he wrote the lyrics too and created parts of the arrangements as well. 
As guest on two tracks we invited our friend Santi Caballero, from Barcelona, Spain to add his amazing Saxophone.
Julia Crystal, a beautiful lady and talented singer from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, joined us on "Sorridi amore" for some nice additional vocals.

I colori dell'amore

Matthias & Paolo - "I colori dell'amore" - Album preview (please read description)

Early this year my friend and fantastic Saxophone and Flute player Santi Caballero (@santi-caballero) asked me to recover some of his older and almost forgotten compositions and bring them to life. This was a nice challenge and after completing a few of these arrangements/songs, we decided to create even more tracks, enough to fill a LP.
The twelve titles of the album we have now created cover a nice range of different styles from Jazz, Swing, Latin to almost EDM. Three of Santi's compositions are part of the album and another three titles were derived from tracks which I had already published on SoundCloud. One of them is "Shades of Blue", in a new version with a flute and a new sax solo. This track gave the entire album its name.
Last but not least, for some of the tracks we've invited some quite talented guests, musical friends of Santi. There is Lehlohonolo Monanyane playing bass, Miguel Bao and Lluis Cuadrench playing electric guitar.

The teaser/preview is released on YouTube too (https://youtu.be/kHMo8JyVpVk). It should give a good impression of all the songs of the album.
The full album is digitally available on major sales and streaming platforms now. Additionally a small number of physical CDs is currently in production and should be available in about three weeks. Latin Mood is the 6th track from the recently released "Shades of Blue" album. For this powerful track with a Latin/Rock feel Santi put his saxophones aside and played a fantastic flute. Additionally two friends of Santi where invited to join us. Miguel Bao from Barcelona is playing some of the electric guitar parts, especially the short guitar solos. Lehlohonolo Monanyane from South Africa was responsible for the low frequencies with his nice electric bass.
