Huge, triumphant return for the man they know as Olsvangèr. This might be the most radiant, life-affirming manifestation of his devotion to trippy dancefloor propulsion.

If last year’s EP with fellow Tofistock co-founder MYKI was the pre-induction, ‘OYSTER51’ signals his full initiation. Solo manoeuvres from the Berlin-based producer and starts as he means to go on with the buoyant flex and ‘90s nostalgia of opening cut ‘Grand Slammin’. Blissed-out vocals vocoded beyond recognition, this is pure dancefloor jubilation but not at the expense of directness or heft.

Clearly, he’s no stranger to a late-nite tech house incursion either. Where ‘Paranoweed’ comes thru with the tuff, full-bodied groove, ‘Bubble Toy’ recalls the oddball, mescaline-strength tribalism of his DJ Headshot alias. Then, just as uplifting as its predecessors, ‘Quadi B’ shuts things down with a heady, levitational dose of fractal fuel.

Dance Petrol Records ignites its engines with "Selected Fuels 05," the latest instalment in a compilation series dedicated to propelling house music's endless voyage. This collection operates as a curated manifest, loading talents like Etur Usheo, Luise, Samy B, Sample Samurai, and So.undso, just to name a few, onto a unified vessel destined for the dancefloor. Their collective cargo spans a rich geography: the humid, bass-driven foundations of early house, the soaring electrical storms of rave heritage, and the meticulous, subtle landscapes of minimal sound design. The label's achievement here is a fluid and cohesive journey, weaving these varied threads into a tapestry that feels both expansive and intimately connected. It is a dialogue across time, where reverence for the genre's pillars meets a fearless drive toward new horizons, all captured in a mix-ready state of motion.

For his contribution, Sample Samurai crafts "Buzzbird," a track electrified by a distinct Proto-Rave aura. It draws clear inspiration from the ambitious structures of classic Progressive House with shards of Raw Trance, yet feels assembled with contemporary tools. The track is built on a driving, four-to-the-floor pulse that captures the era's uncomplicated urgency. Above this, chords emerge in wide, generous arcs, layering warmth and a palpable sense of optimism. The arrangement is masterfully paced, allowing these elements to breathe and swell, crafting a narrative of release that feels physical and emotional. "Buzzbird" does not look back with wistfulness; instead, it harnesses the emotional grammar of its influences to communicate directly with the present moment. It is a generous, expertly engineered piece designed for shared elevation, proving that certain feelings on the dance floor are truly timeless.
