Quadrant Soundscape presents In Focus 005

The 5th installment of our In:Focus Series delves deep into a record label that we have a lot of love for. They have such a diverse array of sounds and styles that you can keep going back to again and again.

 We present to you, Ornaments.

  Ornaments was started back in 2008, and has been home to some of the worlds finest purveyors of the deep. Just a quick flick through the discography and you’ll find names like Rhauder, Paul St. Hilaire, youANDme, Moodymann, The Analog Roland Orchestra, Carlos Nilmmns, Rennie Foster, Sascha Dive, Steve Bug and Mathimidori to name just a few.

  As a label Ornaments covers a huge variety of sounds. You can find everything from Ambient, Deep House, Dub House, Hip hop, Dub Techno and minimal.   

Their most recent record came from Wareika with his LP - Tizinabi and is the 54th release. As is the case with all the mixes in our InFocus Series, the problem is not what to include but what can we possibly leave out. It’s safe to say however that due to variety of musical output by Ornaments that we will certainly be re-visiting the back catalogue for a part 2 at some point in the future.

Javier es un productor y DJ que tuvo contacto con la música electrónica desde temprana edad. A los 16 años comenzó a participar en diversas fiestas en su ciudad natal y, cauteloso con los ritmos, decidió dedicar más tiempo a su pasión. Explorando técnicas de mezcla modernas, así como buscando la música adecuada, constantemente se hace un nombre tocando en eventos, grabando podcasts y trabajando en sus propias producciones.

Antes de ir a un concierto o preparar una grabación, se toma un tiempo con la selección, revisa varias pistas para encontrar las correctas y así crear una experiencia increíble llena de emociones para su público. Su estilo incluye temas elegantes y composiciones melódicas, mucha intensidad y hermosas atmósferas. Desde sonidos profundos hasta cortes minimalistas, la música que ofrece Javier es atractiva e introspectiva. A su corta edad participó en varias importantes fiestas locales organizadas por marcas como Octogonal, Moon Sound, Deep Motion y Blankă Records.

En 2019, fue Finalista en la convocatoria abierta para DJs y productores y contribuyó a la serie de podcasts semanales con un set titulado Feeder sound 203.

Ahora, en 2020, forma parte del sello discográfico independiente Blankă Records, y también es Cofundador de Dub & Deep Channel, 
Además,  en el 2021 lanzó temas en sellos como Astral Music, Insectorama y en el sello Discografico Apnea con su primer "Ep Ilusión", en el año 2022 participó en el Plural Vol 3 por el sello Cavilar.

Actualmente, un artista dedicado y está trabajando en nuevos materiales, por lo que escucharemos más música de él pronto.

About Florin Popa
Artist biography: My name is Florin Popa, born in Iasi, Romania. Moved to Belgium in 2010. Started collecting records in 2011 but the passion for music started in 2007 when a friend of mine introduced me to deepmix.
Fell inlove instantly with Pushkarev's style and followed his work ever since. I love the romanian style, this new trend let's say but for me the russian with detroit influences style is my sweet spot.
Got my first pair of technics in 2017, followed by two cdj and an Xone 92 mixer. At the moment I'm your friendly neighborhood bedroom dj walking with small babysteps into the vast universe of producing.
