Sei A returns on Turbo in a big way, backed by a storming remix from Martyn.

 

Whereas Frozen Flower marked his most delicate and emotive release to date, the latest EP from Sei A snaps things back onto a futuristic grid of bass-driven club madness. "Break the Pattern" is a techno zap-fest featuring a killer hook, precision, laser-cut drums and a rough, rolling groove that fits alongside the best UK underground techno.

 

"Flux" blends retro video game sounds with vocal samples, laid out against a psychedelic cha-cha rhythm. This one received early support from Martyn who - fresh off his LP release - weighs in with one of his strongest and most playable remixes in recent memory, driving the 8-bit riff into a frenzy, backed by iron-clad beats bouncing atop a megaton sub. Guaranteed crowd-pleaser, this one!

 

Finally, the digital release includes "Jus Appreciate", which combines off-kilter samples and haunting atmospheres in arguably the most concise distillation of Sei A's sound so far.

 

With this release, Sei A continues his evolution into one of the most promising talents on the UK scene, reinterpreting the best elements of modern dance music to create a unique and versatile voice.

Turbo Recordings was founded by Tiga in Montreal back in 1998. “We started out singing into plastic bags and shipping them to stores as quickly as possible. Later, we discovered that vinyl sounds way better when delivered by kayak. I learned so much the first few years…Now, as I look towards the future, I can envision music for poor people, sonic odors for the hearing impaired, even MP3s for women....Vroom, sucka!” says Tiga, the lyrical lampsman lighting the way down Dance Avenue.
