square in the face and say “Enough!” But we consider ourselves the luckiest vanity imprint on the planet to be able to harness the talent of the legendary techno icon Sven Väth, who makes 
his debut on Montreal's titanic Turbo Recordings alongside his long-time collaborator Gregor Tresher. Frankfurt based producer Gregor Tresher, started out his career in the early 90’s and has since been known for his focus on melody throughout his productions on Cocoon, Drumcode, Moon Harbour and Bedrock, whilst launching his own label Break New Soil in 2009. With 3 of his own studio albums under his belt, he has collaborated with Depeche Mode, Moby, The Streets, Laurent Garnier and Sven Väth and produced albums for Sven and Monika Kruse.

Spain’s modern techno icon Cora Novoa returns to Turbo Recordings for her second EP on the Montreal imprint, following up 2021’s 'Two Faces EP' with a new peak-time offering : 'LFOs & Creatures’. Constantly testing the intersections between art & technology, Cora harnesses masterful synthetics and ominous drum programming across the four-track project. The EP’s title track leads the line with a top-of-the-line techno slammer, in classic Cora Novoa style. ‘Digital Identities’ and ‘Self Control’ elevate energy even further, as industrial tones creep deep into the groove. The lead single from the project is the EP’s closer - Oracle - which settles into restrained breakbeats and a smoothly engineered ambience. but this hasn’t, not really. this is what i do, and have been doing every night since i was 17.

i find records i love, i fly to a city. i take a nap. i play the records for people. they dance. i get paid i go home.

sometimes i actually think there might be something wrong with me to STILL be doing this. am i stupid?

HOW…. how could you STILL be playing records for people at 5am. shouldn’t you have developed an APP? A line of Wellness Products? surely you should have “sold your company” by now? WRITE A DECK? raise capital!!!! Get bored.
but then i play a set like this (link above) and remember that this is, in fact, as good as it gets, that the core idea i had as a 16year old was actually the BEST idea: to live a life surrounded and protected by MUSIC. armed with your favourite songs, the ones that keep you young and confidant, the ones you want to share with friends.

so that is DJing for me. simple. not particularly revolutionary… except for the fact that to be excited and happy seems revolutionary these days.

also: i’ve played about 4500 parties. and most are like 6 or 7 on tens….. sometimes an 8.

THIS WAS A 10. And the 10s never get recorded. there are lots of exclusives and THREE of my new tracks. and its been recorded WITH all the crowd noise…. trust me its a good one.

UK turned Aotearoa/New Zealand-based DJ and producer @keepsakes is a voice increasingly worth tuning ears to. 

Fresh off the back of a major remix of Tiga & Hudson Mohawke's 'BUYBUYSELL' just last year, the artist makes his debut on Canadian-based @turborecordings with 'Impossible (Eating The Sun)'.

'Nimby Orgy' is the EP's closer, though not with the closure one might expect from that kind of name. 

Typical of Keepsakes' style, 'Nimby Orgy' is driving, controlled chaos brought together. Crashing, banging percussive samples bounce off squelchy pads and synth-lines, with crushed vocals adding to a growing feeling of disorientation, potentially also typical of such an orgy.

The release sees not only a digital release but vinyl too, as Keepsakes is a strict vinyl-only DJ. Of that fact, Turbo shared: "Given that Keepsakes is a vinyl-only DJ, we’ve done him the courtesy of making this release available both on vinyl and digitally. While this would have been an incredible opportunity to completely shut him out of playing his own tracks, we decided that this would be unfair to the music itself. Because at the end of the day, Turbo takes its marching orders from Harmony, Melody, Rhythm, and Timbre."

Premiere: Keepsakes - Bongo Funeral [TURBO240]

Architects are not like you or me. Every idiot knows architects are geniuses. And every moron with a map of the world in his jean pocket knows that Finns are smarter than most. Renaissance Man, then, embody the almost unimaginable ideal of the Finnish Architect, multiplied and then squared. To the funth power.

They met over a grim cup of black coffee at a Finnish architecture firm, launching their career in 2008 with the suitably clever 'Spraycan' on Switch's Dubsided, built around a novel aerosol-can sample. They soon found eager champions in the tastemakers at Kitsuné, Sound Pellegrino, and the blogtelligensia over at Fluokids. By 2010, they were legitimate players, having remixed WhoMadeWho, Delphic, Crystal Fighters, Brodinski, Crookers, Health, and, most recently, Azari & III. 

And, against all reasonable expectation, they just kept getting smarter, refining their sound away from the dimwit muck of blog-house and moving into more serious production territory, relocating to Berlin and learning how to lifestyle it up, playing at Panorama Bar and exploring the semiotics of the drink ticket. 

A more refined, structural sound emerged on the Babbadabba EP on Made to Play. And the larger scope of their commitment to intelligent design comes to fruition on their upcoming album on Turbo, erecting a post-tropical hermitage of Dancing Man’s Thoughtfunk. The music is highly detail-oriented, referencing everything from bass music to curry house, with eyes and ears trained on millennia of art and concept, with a special emphasis on the millennia when music actually existed. The first single, "When You Do What You Do" is a "Who's What You Who" of blazing Critiical House.

Turbo Recordings was founded by Tiga in Montreal back in 1998. In addition to launching his own career, the label has been integral in the success of acts like Chromeo, Gesaffelstein, Duke Dumont and most recently, ANNA & Charlotte de Witte. Core talent includes ZZT (Tiga's collaboration with Zombie Nation), Jori Hulkkonen, BETON, Clouds, Harvard Bass, Pilo, Shaded, Dimitri Veimar and a host of new young producers in genres ranging from pure techno, electro, and house to pop. “We started out singing into plastic bags and shipping them to stores as quickly as possible. Later, we discovered that vinyl sounds way better when delivered by kayak. I learned so much the first few years…Now, as I look towards the future, I can envision music for poor people, sonic odors for the hearing impaired, even MP3s for women....Vroom, sucka!” says Tiga, the lyrical lampsman lighting the way down Dance Avenue.
