The punches kept pouring down. The reign of terror was well underway and the blows were terrifyingly fierce. The stadium was alive with the sound of cheers and groans, vagabonds and the rich had gathered to observe the greatest fight in decades. This was to be a historic day, a titan was predicted to fall. The ring glimmered beneath the shining lights and the padded floor bounced beneath the weight of the two warriors. Pow, pow, pow, bang, bang, bang. 

Fango steps up to remix "Pow Pow" as part of the Rebolledo reworks album. "Re-Alterado" features fresh takes on several of the album tracks with the likes of Red Axes, Maceo Plex and more all featuring.

Madric Based Rotten City Records present Damon Jee and Snem K's latest EP, Dear Humans. 
Damon AKA Jerome Da Silva has been on a run of hot form since recent remixes for ROAM and Night Noise and that run continues on his collaboration with Snem K which features remixes from Mugwump and Demian.
The title track is a record which keeps the groove rolling while taking on subject matter which could bum out a dancefloor; however, bubbly echo effects Damon's trademark beefy kick drum and Snem's overlapped vocal delivery ensures that no one will leave.
Big dramatic bassy punches sound as much like a war cry as it does an invitation to dance. Delay ridden toms and a booming rolling bassline accompany a vocal which questions humanity, at a point where questioning humanity is probably the most apt thing to do.

Signed by Belgian rising talent Strapontin and including remixes by Damon Jee and Thomass Jackson, 10th Hard Fist release is on the way. ‘The End of Logic’, as the title says, is an ode to nonsense for the pleasure of absurdity that strongly echoes today’s context: a world going mad.
 
Being the first vinyl EP of Strapontin, the music here is a solution to escape the widespread pessimism and an injunction to look for happiness. Strapontin flies over a not right-thinking society with derision. More clubby as ever, the record also has something very unusual, a frenetic pace which always comes when we do not expect it.
 
To emphasize the senselessness, the multi-talented artist created with his boyfriend Yvan Megal a video game: ‘Nervous Days’ which is the first track of the EP. The game is a mad rush for virtual recognition, underscoring people's egocentricity.
 
The strong singularity in this piece comes from the cross-disciplinary skills of Patrick Belmont aka Strapontin who is a visual artist, a performer and a producer. He started to release music under Strapontin in 2014 after spending 15 years learning music and studying fine art. Dark can be fun, disco can be sad, violence can be pleasant. Strapontin is not a man afraid of trying new things. Signed to the labels Optimo, I’m A Cliché, la Belle or Nein Records, the Belgian artist has crafted his own style located somewhere in an unknown land between post punk, tribal downtempo and dark disco. With heavy, sensual beats, other-worldly vocals and cavernous basslines, his view of music is adventurous and mindful with a taste of queerness. You probably have caught him lately remixing Karpov Not Kasparov, Golden Bug, Vox Low or brilliantly editing bombs for I’m A Cliché. He’s also part of different dance collectives, usually working as a soundtrack composer, which has influenced his uncompromising music for years. 
With ‘The End of Logic’ Hard Fist signs here his most mature project since it started 3 years ago. This felt like an opportunity for a new artwork collaboration with a cover signed by the Paris-based illustrator Leo Marsal who introduced his own extravagance (with color!) in the Hard Fist universe.

Straighter, Harder, Faster... made to kill the dance floor. Figurehead of the Dark Disco mouvement, Damon Jee takes the EBM and industrial influence of Strapontin’s original to build this monster dancing tool. Innocence, consciousness, warnings… Colossio crash-lands onto Duro with his first full EP for the label. It’s about time; a fellow Mexican alchemist and kindred spirit, Colossio’s dark disco melting pot and strong political energy has bubbled to the same beat as label imprint since the very beginning. Previously spotted on the label remixing Theus Mago and Local Suicide in 2019, he’s now back with three formidable slabs of tightly-sprung timelessness and a remix from Dominik Marz.

Each cut more foreboding than the last, ‘Inocência’ lives up to its name as the most playful cut of the collection. A gently cascading arpeggio takes the lead as classic Yello-style pitched vocals add fun and human warmth to the mix. Dark but not devilishly so, it lures you into Colossio’s world, setting you up for the more up-tempo, late night synth-heavy twist from Dominik Marz.

Up next comes ‘Consciência’, an eight-minute lesson in total tension that takes the theme to darker places. Not so much as a song, but more of a full saga; it’s a taut, sinewy creeper laced in suspense. A story waiting to unfold in the most unlikely ways, it’s followed by the final warning shots of ‘Advertência’. Literally translating to warning, it takes things in an even darker, tense direction. More industrial sounding in the drum department and more pitched vocal shots, it’s the consummate soundtrack to the bleak future we were warned about in the 80s… And living right now.

I learned so much the first few years…Now, as I look towards the future, I can envision music for poor people, sonic odors for the hearing impaired, even MP3s for women....Vroom, sucka!” says Tiga, the lyrical lampsman lighting the way down Dance Avenue.
