Willie Burns - I Wanna Love You

The Tales of The Heike is a Japanese folkloric tale created in the 12th century depicting the Genpei war and the life of the Heike clan.

This story is known as the first novel ever created by humans. The authorship of this novel has been attributed to many people but there is no certainty on who created it since the tale has been passed through oral tradition and has changed over time. Shogyomujo is an excerpt of this tale which translates to “Impermanence” and it is under this theme that Birdcage’s debut EP for Shabu Recordings is based. Featuring the most emotionally powerful music released on Shabu yet, Shogyomujo is a three-part story that unfolds like a flower blossoming which isn’t afraid to show its decay and its death.

Shorea Robusta is the opener of this triptych; it starts slowly and continuously evolves from a cold and ambient-focused Techno track to a tear-jerking piece of beauty that injects parts of Gamelan music and violin. Following it, Atma is a serene and hypnotizing work that is somewhat nostalgic of Acid. Its pulsating and distorted synthline transpires a life that is slowly evolving into a new husk and shining as its own entity.

OP-88 Transience puts an end to this sequence with a granular Techno piece that gets more and more anxious and delirious throughout its life to become a chaotic mass that dies on its own. To complement the previous acts, the previous trilogy is accompanied by a more dancefloor-focused trio of reworks.
The alternate version of Shorea Robusta cuts back on the instruments to create a more rythmically tribal and blurry take that provides an uplifting sense of euphoria. It is this same euphoria that Avus’ take on Atma captures; it strips down the original’s nostalgia to make an assumed 7 minutes piece of Acid. Borealis’ (a.k.a Jesse Somfay) rework of Shorea Robusta tops off this whole with a somewhat psychedelic work of Trance-oriented Techno that transforms the original into a 3 AM warehouse banger.

@alli-bor-m Alli Borem, the Italian Tech-house don who leapt into action three years ago with a huge debut on Desolat is back in top form with three club weapons for Turbo.

Italian acid-tech-house for dancefloors everywhere:

Continuum Gate is a huge, super-effective DJ tool. A wonky acid top-line hovers over rolling, Spastik-style percussion (which everyone loves)... add in massive kicks and a gritty ride and BOOM, the party gets pazzo. 'Children of the Heart' tweaks the reverb and flecks the resonant acid all over your mind... it sounds like Daniel Avery, dipped in tiramisu. Finally, 'Turbo Rolling Ride' ups the jack quotient, with pumping snares punctuating an infinitely grooving bassline.

Solid, playable bombs.

El Guincho side project gets the remix treatment from edit-champ Pilooski, Visionquest / Soft Touch mega-talent Clarian and Turbo / Multi Culti A&R Von Party.

Spanish musician Pablo Diaz-Reixa, best known for his psychedelic, tropical pop act El Guincho (released on Young Turks), posted 5 sample-based tribal tracks back in 2013 on the site tranc.es. The music drew the attention of John Talabot, who released two of them, titled simply '4' and '5,' onto his Hivern Discs label, as a vinyl-only release, which found it's way to Thomas Von Party and inspired this remix pack.

Pilooski hasn't released much music of late, but what he has put out has been of exceptional quality, with remixes for I:Cube and Tim Paris being highlights of 2014. His remix of Trances 4 is a sprawling modular head-trip, far out in every way, yet somehow listenable and versatile as a DJ tool. 

The increasingly prolific Clarian (formerly of Footprintz), flexes a progressive acid house builder out of Trances 5, proving his skill in yet another facet, after an incredibly wide range of releases ranging from indie rock on Seth Troxler's Soft Touch to indian chant-pop on his Multi Culti EP. It's a sonic departure from the original, but one that stays true to the verb in question.

Finally, Von Party brings the tempo down on to a smooth 116 BPM, restraining some of the abrasive elements to make for a low-slung crowd-pleaser that works equally as warm-up or late-night takedown - already played and supported by Tiga.

Also included in the package are the amazing originals, available for the first time digitally, and as a digital exclusive, a previously unheard alternate version of Trances 4. 

Trances Remixed is released on February 23, 2015

Three Japanese techno innovators team up as Disq Clash. Jacking Chicago tracks featuring a vocal from the legendary DJ Funk.

DISQ CLASH is Chester Beatty, DJ Shufflemaster and DJ YAMA. Chester Beatty and DJ Shufflemaster are well-known techno producers who started their career in the 90’s and have released albums on Germany's Tresor. DJ Yama is the label boss behind “Sublime Records” which has released established artists like Ken Ishii. DJ Funk joins the team on vocals, following up on several collaborations with Chester Beatty under the project name “Da Royal Funkasta.”

The original is a high-powered, 303 laced Chicago party bomb, while Shufflemaster's pair of remixes take things to Detroit and beyond.

A true product of Toronto's thrillingly cosmopolitan Grooving Pot, this Chinese-Italian duo is quickly earning a rep for crafting highly effective acid tracks with just a hint of banger. They initially earned notice with their first EP, 'Vaporizer,' on This Is Music, before making fans out of some big names with THESE tracks, with Brodinski championing 'Body Acid' and forcing Turbo's A&R Vibetrust to perk up their unbelievably jaded ears. If you aren't sold on the Ontario-buzz, then maybe you'll pay attention to two awesome remixes by the bombest Bulgarian, Kink. The 'Deep' mix is a lush, throbbing body-rub, and the 'Acid' version is a highlight-reel of peak time mayhem, already caned and charted by Erol Alkan and Tiga.
