Local Suicide announce their long awaited debut album ‘Eros Anikate' which will be released May 13th, 2022 on vinyl, CD and digitally via their own label Iptamenos Discos. The title translates to ‘love invincible’ and draws influence from a play written by Sophocles titled ‘Antigone’.  The album holds true to the duo's ‘technodisco’ sound that the couple has become so well known for and showcases their signature style of blending a retro feeling with a modern twist. In usual Local Suicide fashion, the duo’s debut album showcases tongue in cheek modern-day circumstances, mystical adventures, and moody baselines; all tied up with the promises of happy endings. You can instantly hear that this album comes from the duo’s hearts. Inspired by the travels and experiences they encountered throughout the pandemic, it’s also a love letter to the friends they met during their career - some of which are also featured on the album: Lee Stevens, Curses, The Hidden Cameras, Sissi Rada, Skelesys, Theus Mago, Hard Ton, Kalipo & Greek new wave legend Lena Platonos.

In December of 2022, with Turbo Recordings nearing the cusp of its 25th year, label Owner, Founder and Executive Vision Honcho Tiga sent out an urgent missive to friends and collaborators across the globe:

This brazen threat spoke to the hearts of some of dance music’s greatest talents, who within days gathered outside Tiga’s Montreal fortress carrying thumb drives bursting with melody, rhythm, and more than a little timbre. Now, after months of brutal attrition and line-crossing personal rejection, we are proud to present you with the very best of the best. 

While the mere mention of a label compilation is enough to get anyone’s imagination rock-hard, just consider some of the names involved. From legends like Soulwax (as 2manydjs), Matias Aguayo, Jori Hulkkonen, The Hacker, Seth Troxler, and Audion to modern masters like Cora Novoa, Disfreq, Nikki Nair, Fedele, Mathame (and many more), Turbo 25 spans soundscapery from the label’s rich past, rich present, and VR-heavy future. Since their first release as Extrawelt 'Soopertrack' dropped on Border Community in 2005 Arne Schaffhausen and Wayan Raabe have had a remarkable run. They relentlessly toured the world with their highly esteemed live show and released plenty of killer releases on labelslike Traum or Cocoon. Naturally, our ears were wide open when the Hamburg-based couple sent over a bunch of new productions to the KOMPAKT HQ. Announced as what they call a new, alternative path of production for them, more precisely "less computer, more hands on" we were directly intrigued by the power and rawness of their new sound.

In particular, two cuts stood out: 'PINK PANTHER' is pure analog funk. A sluggish beat is paired with a highly effective synth riff. The idea is as simple as it gets but it's executed in such a masterful way. You can drop this track anywhere and anytime - it'll certainly set things on fire right away. 'ARGONAUTS' follows an equally simple recipe but ups the tempo and energy levels by 100%. Heavy prime time saw toothtechno for the new generation that recall vintage Thomas P. Heckmann – perhaps if he were to wake up in a funky mood.

Turbo Recordings was founded by Tiga in Montreal back in 1998. In addition to launching his own career, the label has been integral in the success of acts like Chromeo, Gesaffelstein, Duke Dumont and most recently, ANNA & Charlotte de Witte. Core talent includes ZZT (Tiga's collaboration with Zombie Nation), Jori Hulkkonen, BETON, Clouds, Harvard Bass, Pilo, Shaded, Dimitri Veimar and a host of new young producers in genres ranging from pure techno, electro, and house to pop. “We started out singing into plastic bags and shipping them to stores as quickly as possible. Later, we discovered that vinyl sounds way better when delivered by kayak. I learned so much the first few years…Now, as I look towards the future, I can envision music for poor people, sonic odors for the hearing impaired, even MP3s for women....Vroom, sucka!” says Tiga, the lyrical lampsman lighting the way down Dance Avenue.
