One of the most influential electronic music artists that France has produced, David Carretta returns to The Hacker & Gesaffelstein’s ZONE Records with his new EP, ‘Land of Sin’. Featuring 5 tracks of hard edged electro, analogue techno and retro-futuristic synth workouts, ‘Land of Sin’, shows that 21 years on since his debut release Carretta is still at his creative best.

Setting the tone ‘Land of Sin’, draws upon Electro, Techno, New Beat, EBM and Italo Disco to create a grinding, sleazy club classic, the soundtrack to sweat dripping off black rubber walls. Upping the tempo ‘Smash’ draws a direct parallel between classic early ‘90s Trance and early ‘00s Electroclash, bringing new life back to both genres.

‘Station to Station’ meanwhile sees Carretta in cosmic mode, a classic Electro rhythm underpins a weightless melody that recalls the likes of both Kraftwerk and classic early ‘90s electronica.

Then having let us catch our breath Carretta pulls us right back onto the dark heart of the dancefloor with ‘System’, six bruising minutes of Industrial Techno, before ending with a final Electro flourish with the brooding and oppressive ‘Transcontrol’.

Making his debut in 1993 of the seminal Harthouse label, as Calyptol Inhalant, David Carretta has gone on to release 4 albums, over forty EPs, more than 50 remixes and DJ’ed and performed live all around the world. Along the way Carretta inspired DJ Hell to launch International Deejay Gigolos, the label that would reshape electro in the final years of the 20th century and has provided a similar inspiration to the new wave of French electro artists of the ‘00s.

Established in 2009 by The Hacker and Gesaffelstein, ZONE Records has gone on to provide a home for some of the most exciting names in electronic music today including the likes of Djedjotronic, Maelstrom and Jon Convex.

Modern Friend are a Montreal, Canada-based duo consisting of Voytek Korab (formerly of My Favorite Robot) and Kosta Megalos (formerly of Flowers and Sea Creatures). The new project dives back into each of their early influences of post-punk and synthwave sounds which were musical movements that heavily influenced their formative years.

Having been greatly involved in the underground electronic music scene for many years, this is their first foray into the type of music that they always wanted to write. “Someone’s Gotta Save Us” is a post-punk electronica number, all-encompassing of the times we are in.

Andy Toth, co-founder and former member of the Detroit Grand Pubahs remixes the track and flips it into an electro stomper. Korab’s smooth vocals get turned into a robotic twitchy funk, the guitars become replaced with acid-tinged synths, and an overall thump is added to the drums to make it ready for the clubs. Pure, aural filth with this remix in the absolute best of ways.

The Andy Toth remix of Modern Friend’s “Someone’s Gotta Save Us” is released October 31st, 2025 on Permaculture.

With “4th Of The Punks”, Light Blue File crafts a track that feels like both an homage and an evolution - a future-facing nod to the golden era of French Touch, refracted through the gritty, underground lens of Distrikt Paris. It’s the standout moment on his Fourth Of The Punks EP: an Electro-House hybrid charged with funk, attitude, and an unmistakable pulse that bridges nostalgia and innovation.

The track launches with a strutting groove - chunky bassline, crisp percussion, and an ever-so-slight Acid sizzle that coils around the rhythm. An intoxicating sound full of pulsating rhythms and enchanting melodies lands at the doors of Ben Jones 'Parallel Circuit' label, as DJ and producer extraordinaire t.na sees in the latest chapter in his upwardly mobile musical journey…

t.na, has been working his magic within the dance music scene for over 20 years. Originally from Manchester but now based in London, his stellar career began behind the decks, where his ability to join the dots between House, techno, electro, minimal, and breaks saw him play in some of the world’s most celebrated dancefloors. His curiosity with music production eventually developed into the founding of Pickled Music, along with affiliated labels Into the Woods, Afterwoods, Occult Vision, and Taste the Rainbow Records, which have all put out some top-quality dance records in the past few years. The curiosity wouldn’t end there, as t.na ventured into music production himself. Heavily inspired by the early 2000s tech house sound, t.na’s sound is one of sublime, progressive rhythms; thought provoking and considered melodies; and an overall atmosphere of joyous momentum, perfectly blending minimalist sensibilities with multi-faceted, layered features - all of which provide his music with lasting intrigue and with a profound sense of depth and meaning.

The ‘Ivan’ EP is yet another step onward, and as an experience, it is tailored perfectly for late-night dancefloor excursions and early sunrises. As soon as the title track begins, the anticipation goes sky high, with a rock solid beat interspersed with a bass note that bellows from the deep. Cosmic, technological sound effects add a certain complexion and feel up top, with a sprinkling of melodic features placed atop the mix with grace and feeling. The earworm of a mid-range key line is the winner here, perfectly finding its way into the heart of the track and propelling things forward. ‘Reeves’ comes next, and this number follows a similar trajectory to the opener. A pulsating beat provides the foundation for a hypnotic bass line to weave in between the grooves, as airy pads shift in the background. This number is all about the little things, with the softest of changes opening up the most exciting of new horizons.

What's in a name? Well, when you decide to call yourself Acid Bitchez, quite a lot. Harking back to a simpler time, when Chicago ruled the roost, the freshly formed duo of Juha Johnny (who eagle eared readers may remember as as one of the black-tie wearing 303-knob twiddlers in Jori Hulkkonen's Acid Symphony Orchestra) and "lyrical miracle" Jessika have made the most auspicious of debuts, landing on Tiga's Turbo imprint to take us on an acid trip of epic proportions.

Titled 'Thinking About Acid' (we're starting to notice a theme here...) their debut record has seen the label draft in fellow acid enthusiasts - the music not the drug - on remix duties with Jori Hulkkonen, General Ludd, Zia and Joeski all brought in to reshape the cut in their own image. Our pick of the bunch? Well that'd have to be Finnish super-producer Jori Hulkkonen's 303 drenched rework which we have the pleasure of unveiling today.

With releases for Digital Soundboy, Love & Other and This Ain’t Bristol under his belt (the latter reaching #1 on the Beatport chart) and more as his drum and bass alias Kindred, not to mention celebrated production work for the likes of Little Simz and Meridian Dan, Jakwob might just be one of the most prolific producers in the UK. Now he’s back with something a little different: a brand new EP for Twin Turbo, the all-digital all-banger offshoot of Tiga’s Turbo Recordings. ‘Feel So Good’ is set for release on 1st July 2016, mastered by none other than Turbo stalwart and Bavaria’s finest Zombie Nation.

‘Feel So Good’ is a pneumatic stomper with irresistible synth flourishes and skittering hi hats that sees Jakwob crash head first into full-on peak time dancefloor territory. You can see why the track blew up at Miami this year having been handed to a select handful of DJs, and why Jakwob aka James Jacob can count Diplo, Todd Edwards, Skrillex, Busy P, Sinden, Claude Von Stroke and Justin Martin amongst his growing number of fans.

The EP also sees Jakwob revisit his recent collaboration with enigmatic London beatmaker HiFe on the rolling ‘Excuse Me’, with the pair having previously worked together on ‘People Walk’ for Love & Other. Icy, atmospheric banger ‘Skup’ and an extended acid remix from Dutch newcomer and Turbo’s newest signing TRACE7000 completes the four-track package.

Tiga lines up the next EP on his Turbo sub label, Twin Turbo and in doing so follows up a string of successful records from the likes of Harvard Bass, Phil Kieran and Zombie Nation with a bold and driving EP from Dirtybird and Hypercolour affiliate - Kill Frenzy. Throughout his catalogue, the Belgian born and Berlin based producer has melded rich atmospherics with potent drums and infectious vocal samples and this - his ‘Crystal Seed’ EP is one fans both old and new will relish. 

The title track kicks things off with warped, tubular bass tone set tumbling under brash hats and a piercing clap. Nifty drum fills punctuate progress as filters drive towards a rapturous crescendo before ‘Follow Me’ sets pitched vocals and scattered 808 hats off to a menacing march. Drums are given a distinct Turbo feel as they’re deftly flanged and overdriven and set atop a swelling bass groove that rolls until the close of another fine addition to the Twin Turbo catalogue.

Twin Turbo kicks off 2013 with an EP of club-rocking house-jackers from Scottish prodigies Clouds.

Following a year that saw their critical stature soar and made fans of a growing legion of techno stars (Chris Liebing and Gary Beck both named "Consciousness" the top track of 2012), Clouds take a break from their maturation process to crank out a few knee-jerk tracks built for the masses, each crafted around a catchy hip-hop inflected vocal hook. 

"Terrorcore" will scare the living sweat out of you with a deadly parade of monstrous toms and vocal sample that will force you to work through your cash-flow anxiety on the dancefloor. "Local Bubble" is the housiest, funkiest thing Clouds have ever done, a supremely playable record that will surely find a crossover audience. Finally, "HE_1523_0901", pumps the bass up with Clouds's signature distorted kickdrum sound, a minimal arrangement with more clever vocal cuts.

Russia's Nocow refuses to mourn the failed experiment of human contact on his Turbo debut EP, delivering cathartic anthems alongside giant warehouse jams you are free to call “deep” and “cavernous” with full knowledge of the risks involved.   On lead track “Never Leave Me,” the Saint Petersburg-based creator of “Cloud Techno” runs emotive vocals through a hazmat filter and into the emo-globin contained within your fluorescent-green blood cells.
