Levantine serves up his most propulsive, hard-edged music on this new EP for Exploited Club.

On the title track ‘High Energy’, distorted kicks suck at a tense synth arpeggio while in the distance a dramatic melody plays amidst a church-like reverb. Acidic overtones rise in the arp before big snare hits drop in and the lead melody shifts up an octave dramatically. Techno-tinged hi-hats push things forward more before we strip back in stark style and vox synths arrive to increase the haunting feel further still. Little else is needed aside from clever arrangement and juicy electronic tom fills to keep this one rocking until the very least beat.

‘Power, Corruption & Lies’ takes its cues from muscle-pumping ‘80s Hi-NRG, with a pogoing synth b-line trading blows with tight claps and gated snares by turns. Spare but spacious percussive rhythm pervades to accentuate the double-time bass, leading us to a breakdown decked out with a plucked, trancey melody and filtering, sweeping pad sustains. The tension builds before everything gels together, with the haunting feel of the title track continued here. As always, Levantine’s sense of drama and atmosphere shines through effortlessly.

Closing out the EP is Alter Ego’s Remix, Roman Fluegel and Joern Elling are in absolutely belting form with a behemoth slice of killer early 00s electro that slips ‘Higher States of Consciousness’ a dose of the ‘Rocker’ treatment. Face-meltingly glorious.

Steve Bug teams up once again with long time collaborator Cle for three tracks of elevated house music.

Hallucinous slips into a slinky groove from the off - a restless baseline interacting with a charming two note string sound and skipping percussion.

Discrete Circuit takes things a little deeper vibe-wise, delivering a tight groove and arpeggiated synths that bring a psychedelic rush to the fore.

The third track is a remix of the title track by Leeni and Danilo Kupfernagel, who merge a firing deep house rhythm track with dubbed out chord stabs and atmospheric pads and vocal samples.

Markantonio's record label, AnalyticTrail continues its black series with an analogue techno release by B. Riley.

B. Riley is an American artist known for his dark and driving releases on labels ranging from Chris Liebing's CLR and Jewel Kid's Alleanza to his own imprint, CMND CTRL.

Based in Florida, B. Riley's style blends bleeping synth tones and raw percussion sounds to create hypnotic grooves with industrial undertones. He is a well-known DJ within Florida's underground club scene and his productions translate his extensive knowledge of how to captivate a dance floor.

"By A Thread" opens the release with eerie tension and fast-flowing percussion that unfolds with building suspense. "Not In Zone" lifts the intensity with its menacing synth line and thrashing hi-hats that layer with modulating chord stabs. "Speed Skater" has gritty sound design and broken beat percussion rhythms layered with flickers of acid. "The Spiral" closes out the release with dystopian atmospherics layered over tense pads and hard-hitting percussion.

Toronto’s legendary techno titan returns to Turbo. Kenny Glasgow has been a vital pillar in the Canadian electronic scene for 30+ years, pioneering a distinct sound on both the production and performance side. Through his work with Art Department, as well as his solo offerings over the years, Kenny’s trademark brand of techno has captured global plaudits for decades. Glasgow has carried the torch for the North American scene time & time again, and shows no sign of relenting.

Following his famed 2001 ‘Toronto Mix Session’ CD on Turbo, and his debut EP on the imprint ‘Mean Machine’ landing in 2020, we’re thrilled to welcome Kenny Glasgow back with the ‘Mind Under Control’ EP.

Leading the line is ‘Position Fatale’, a low-slung groover that harnesses an undeniable baseline hook and vicarious latin vocals. Defiant drum programming balances floaty synthetic rhythms, showcasing the distinctly diverse nature of Kenny’s studio flow. ‘Loco Juice’ brings crisp production to a spoken-word foray, while ‘Planet’ takes us to higher planes with masterful melodics. Kenny Glasgow - Loco Juice

Dishevelled London's 16th release is a debut on the label from Tel Aviv based producer Nik Brokhman. Nik joins the Dishevelled London family with two energetic House tracks, which drive warm feelings of 90s nostalgia. The A-side ‘A Hurricane over a lake’ has vibrant pads, classic sounding leads and an ethereal vocal hook. ‘Wrong chords’ is a lovely slice of piano house, channelling a more jazzy vibe complemented by a super funky bassline. Out on all platforms on 21st September.

UK dance music antagonist Works Of Intent redefines big room techno on ‘Richer Sound’, an album with six all-new tracks alongside six cuts previously released on Laurent Garnier and Scan X's COD3 QR label.

Works Of Intent is a vital voice in the underground who champions the sounds and stories of South Asian creatives in his role as Project Manager and Visual Designer for DAYTIMERS. He has also written multiple essays on race, class and privilege in the industry while laying down expressive sets across four decks at key clubs like fabric, Panoramabar and Rex. His emotive, storytelling sounds have come on labels like Turbo, Rekids and Monkeytown, and outside that, he's a go-to mix engineer for some of the UK's most exciting prospects.

‘Richer Sound’ features six tracks previously released on the label’s Various Artist EPs and six brand new offerings that avoid tired big room tropes. Gone are the snare rolls, white noise risers and kick drops, instead Work's operates under the mantra of "big tunes for big hearts" where musicality makes the motive. The artist himself has taken care of the artwork, mixing and mastering and says of the album, “It’s melancholia turned up so loud you can’t ignore it. It’s a deafening barrage of emotions designed for super clubs. It’s unsubtle, it’s unabashed, it’s unrelenting, and it wears its heart on its sleeve. It’s unmistakably a work of intent.”

Opener 'You Should' is a thrilling breakbeat tour de force that nails emotional impact and dance floor weight with impeccable craft. The title track is a colossal mind melter with throwback references to the home cinema experience of yesteryear in its samples of tape rewinds, DVD disc trays and CD disc changers, all adding a constantly rising urgency, then 'V.H.S.' brings a brutalist UK edge to proceedings with tambourine-layered and echoed dub snares making it a real bass bin workout. The powerful 'Fully Focused' builds to deliver the loudest sound you'll ever hear as Works Of Intent makes his synths scream; then there is a moment to dream on 'The Colour Of It' with its ethereal uncertainty, low-slung rhythms and epic synth washes.

Cars and motorsport have been a recurring theme in previous Works Of Intent releases and appear again here in 'Left Unseen', which has the high octane, death-defying adrenaline of rally driving perfectly transposed into a big room techno experience. 'Winning Dulls The Pain' is another cacophony of rising and descending V10 engines underpinning an ever-urgent lead, and 'Old Ways, New Mistakes' bounces boisterously with stadium-sized kick drums and synthetic mourning that will break hearts across arenas. 'Add New Ones' brings the heft of dubstep minimalism to a slower 4x4 form, and 'Dreamt I Saw You' takes fawning imaginations to lucid heights with a synth and cymbal pairing designed to get you stargazing in the club. There is an unrelenting Berlin techno drive to 'Hard Year' that peaks in a wash of cymbals and warbled melancholia before 'You Should (Reprise)' reimagines the opening cut in a more patiently building form with even more emotional impact.

‘Richer Sound’ is just the sort of expertly-crafted, genre-busting work of emotional and physical potency you would expect from such a restless nonconformist as Works Of Intent.
