One year ago Elisa Batti and Jorge Fons met up to record an improvised live set that started with the whole idea. We wanted to share something different; when you listen, you can feel fresh and new sounds, always with the view I have for Wabi Sabi, immersion. 

To give the album a full range of fresh and original sounds, Elisa and Jorge crafted five tracks that move from ambient to more minimal, beautiful and energetic music. And one of those tracks is an uncut slice of that improvised live set they recorded, spontaneous, exactly as it happened.

Yūgen is our invitation to dive in, notice the little surprises, and lose yourself in sound. We hope it feels as alive to you as it did during their live recording in the studio.

Before we dive in, here’s a bit about the person behind this mix :
Sheldon aka SOUZARK,  born and raised in Dubai. His sound lives in the space between rhythm and repetition, built on hypnotic grooves, bleepy textures, and emotional pressure. Influenced by artists like Rodhad, Ben Klock, Amotik and more. He loves carrying forward the energy from one loop into the next often letting parts of the first track bleed into the second to keep the loopy, trance-inducing momentum alive.

Soma welcomes LA based Alexander Kulikov for a special release on the label, bringing the deep and dubbed out ‘October Dreams Pt.1’. The self professed ‘Dub Techno enthusiast’ has been involved in various musical activities in his time but has begun to focus more on the roots of his chosen sound throughout the last few years - bringing the traditional sound of Detroit & Berlin into his productions. This release (part 1 of 2) sees him delving into deep sonic experiments with ethereal soundscapes and atmospheres set to a backdrop of psycho-acoustic noise and static with the faintest of percussive elements helping to keep the rhythm. The release also features a special remix from one of Detroit’s best kept secrets as DeepLabs boss, Luke Hess turns in a perfectly crafted, Detroit inspired version of Stream.

Turbo Recordings was founded by Tiga in Montreal back in 1998. I learned so much the first few years…Now, as I look towards the future, I can envision music for poor people, sonic odors for the hearing impaired, even MP3s for women....Vroom, sucka!” says Tiga, the lyrical lampsman lighting the way down Dance Avenue.
